The Infernal Holt is a Nether biome added by Regions Unexplored. It takes part of the vanilla Basalt Deltas biome. Its ground is blackstone over netherrack, its trees are brimwood, and its floor is dotted with dorcel flowers that damage anything standing in them. Players who cross the Nether will pass through it often, and its hazards make it one of the more dangerous Nether biomes in Fear Nightfall to cross on foot.
The biome is hot and dry, with no precipitation. Its sky, fog and water share one dark red-brown colour, so the view is dim and reddish. Hoglins, piglins and striders roam it, and a set of fish lives in its water, so it is not empty of life.
Description
The ground surface is built from netherrack with blackstone patches. Blackstone covers the floor and ceiling in noise-driven patches, and netherrack shows between them. Above y 31 on the floor, the surface is covered with brimsprout nylium, a fungus-growing ground block with its own plants. Below y 32, the floor has lava holes.
The biome's colours are set in its biome data. The sky, fog, water and water fog are all #35180D. Grass and foliage use #6F5349, which gives the trees and ground a dull brown cast. Ambient particles are white ash drifting at a rate of 0.03 per tick, and the background music is the basalt deltas track.
Generation
Regions Unexplored assigns the Infernal Holt a weight of 60 against the vanilla Basalt Deltas biome, so it takes a share of that biome's area in the Nether. Its climate values are temperature 2 and downfall 0, and it has no precipitation. It generates only in the Nether dimension.
Its share of the Nether is shown in the infobox. Fear Nightfall does not include this biome in its list of horror biomes weighted at 6×, so it generates at the mod's default weight.
Features
Regions Unexplored places each of these features in the biome.
- Brimwood trees. A tree group of four trees per layer, using the brimwood wood set. Brimwood is a magma-log variant; see Brimwood for its blocks.
- Brimsprout patches. Brimsprout plant patches, placed 30 times per placement attempt. They provide the ground cover that the dorcel and brimwood shrubs grow on.
- Dorcel. Single dorcel flowers, placed four times per placement attempt and filtered to brimsprout. Dorcel damages anything that stands in it; see the Tips section.
- Brimwood shrubs. One shrub per placement attempt, also filtered to brimsprout.
- Fire patches. Fire patches, placed four times per placement attempt.
- Underground ores and blocks. The vanilla Nether ores (ancient debris, blackstone, gold, gravel, magma and nether quartz), along with Sulfur from Butchery, silt flint ore from Nether Expansion, and pyroclast crusts and netherrack speleothems.
Mobs and structures
The land mobs in the biome are hoglins, piglins and zombified piglins, plus striders, which have the highest spawn weight of the biome's creatures. Water creatures are drawn from the fish listed in the spawn table below. The tables are generated from the game data, so their numbers are not repeated here.
The biome can contain 88 structures. These include vanilla Nether fortresses and bastion remnants, towers and bridges from Moog's Nether Bridges, Moog's Nether Ruins and Moog's Nether Landmarks, and the keeps and ports from Nether Keep and Port. The list also includes structures from Better Nether Fortress and Hearths Nether Towers. The full placement table is generated below.

Tips
- Dorcel is the main danger. Walk around its flowers. An entity standing in dorcel takes damage on each tick, and walking through it also slows movement. Suspicious stew made from dorcel gives the Wither effect for 20 seconds.
- Watch the lava. The floor below y 32 has lava holes, so check the ground before crossing an open stretch at that height.
- The Infernal Holt does not spawn Born in Chaos mobs. Fear Nightfall limits Born in Chaos spawns to the Overworld, so the mobs here come from vanilla and the Nether mods.
- Hoglins have the highest spawn weight among the biome's monsters, so expect them most often when you are exploring the biome.
