The Pyroclast and Basalt Blocks are a family of Nether building blocks and decorations added by Jaden's Nether Expansion. They cover three groups: Pyroclast Crusts, a thin layer that forms on lava and can be stacked and harvested; the Pyroclast block with its slab, stair and wall variants; and the Basalt family (basalt and polished basalt slabs, stairs, walls and bricks), together with the Basaltic Geyser, a block that launches anything that steps on it.
Pyroclast Crusts generate naturally on the lava surfaces of the Nether, in every Nether biome. The Basaltic Geyser generates only in Basalt Deltas. The building blocks are made by crafting or stonecutting materials found in the Nether, so they are not collected from the world.
Obtaining
Natural generation
Pyroclast Crusts are placed by two biome features that are added to every biome in the #minecraft:is_nether tag. Each feature has a 1-in-2 chance per chunk to place a patch. Crusts are placed on air blocks directly above Lava at heights from Y 32 to Y 38. The larger feature makes up to 96 attempts within a 3-block horizontal and vertical spread. The smaller feature uses a 1-block horizontal spread, which keeps its crusts sparser. The pack's pyroclastCrusts config option (default true) turns this generation off.
Basaltic Geysers are placed in Basalt Deltas by a random patch. Six to nine placement attempts are made per chunk, at heights from 4 blocks above the bottom of the Nether to 4 blocks below its top. A geyser is placed only on a basalt block with air above it. A successful attempt places an active geyser about 64% of the time and leaves air the rest of the time.
The Basalt and Pyroclast building blocks are not generated naturally.

Pyroclast Crusts
Pyroclast Crusts have a hardness of 0.5 and a blast resistance of 1.5. The block survives only while lava is directly below it. It breaks if the lava is removed. The item can be placed onto a lava surface in the same way.
Each crust block holds 1 to 6 layers, stored in the crusts property. Right-clicking the block with another Pyroclast Crusts item adds one layer, up to 6. Right-clicking it with an empty hand removes one layer and gives the player one Pyroclast Crusts item. In Creative mode no item is given. Sneaking disables both interactions. Layers 1 to 3 cover only part of the block's footprint, and the footprint turns with the block's facing property. Layers 4 to 6 cover the full block.
Crusts are fragile when entities move onto them. When a living entity enters a crust block's space, including by standing on it, the crust is scheduled to break 20 ticks (one second) later. A broken crust drops nothing. Entity types in the netherexp:cant_break_crusts tag do not break crusts.
Four Pyroclast Crusts in a 2×2 crafting grid make one Pyroclast block.
Pyroclast
The Pyroclast block has a hardness of 0.8 and a blast resistance of 1.5, and is mined with a pickaxe. Its slab, stair and wall variants use the same values.
Basaltic Geyser
The Basaltic Geyser has a hardness of 1.25 and a blast resistance of 4.2, the same as vanilla basalt, and is mined with a pickaxe. It has two states, active and cooldown.
An active geyser launches any entity that steps on it, unless the entity is sneaking. The launch sets an upward velocity of 1.2 (the geyserHeightVelocity config option). The geyser then plays the lava extinguish sound and enters its cooldown state. It becomes active again after 5 seconds (the geyserCooldown option, in seconds). While it is on cooldown, stepping on it does nothing. A geyser placed by a player is active by default. A player who places one while sneaking gets an inactive geyser.
Landing on a geyser from a height causes fall damage at half the normal rate. A geyser emits smoke from its top while it is active. Outside biomes with the white ash tag, it also emits white ash particles.
Basalt blocks
The Basalt family has a hardness of 1.25 and a blast resistance of 4.2, and is mined with a pickaxe. It includes basalt slabs, stairs and walls, and polished basalt slabs, stairs, walls and bricks. The polished basalt bricks have their own slab, stair and wall variants.
Stonecutting gives one stair or wall per block and two slabs per block. Crafting gives six slabs from three blocks, four stairs from six blocks, and six walls from six blocks.
