The Nether Expansion Plants and Fungi are the vegetation, fungus blocks, vines and spore items that Jaden's Nether Expansion adds to the Nether. They cover the Crimson and Warped forests, the spore-producing sporeshrooms and ivies, the warped wart plant, several decorative nylium and fungus blocks, and two spore families that light up vines and compress into glowing blocks. Most of them are scenery, but the sporeshrooms launch entities into the air, and the frogmists have collision that is hidden unless the player holds a specific item.

Obtaining

Natural generation

The plants are placed by biome modifiers that add features to the vanilla Nether forests. The Crimson Forest receives Crimson Sporeshrooms, Crimson Sprouts and Weeping Ivy. The Warped Forest receives Warped Sporeshrooms and Twisting Ivy. These features are added in the vegetal decoration step. Warped Wart is a crop that grows on soul sand and on nether wart plantable blocks.

In the pack, loot from Jaden's Nether Expansion reaches the chests that the pack maps to vanilla chests. The shared chests are listed in the loot table below.

Crimson Sprouts drop only when broken with shears. A Weeping Ivy drops a Weeping Helix only when its helix is set. Sporeshrooms drop themselves and survive explosions. Ochre, Pearlescent and Verdant Frogmists are dropped by Ecto Slab mobs.

Usage

Sporeshrooms

Crimson and Warped Sporeshrooms are mushroom-cap blocks that can stand on the floor or hang from a ceiling. Walking onto a standing sporeshroom launches the player upward with a vertical velocity of 1.0, which is the configured sporeshroomHeightVelocity value. The launch does not happen when the player is sneaking or when the block is hanging. The sporeshroom does not cause fall damage. Pistons destroy it.

A sporeshroom placed while sneaking is inactive and emits no particles. Active sporeshrooms emit spore particles and smog from the cap, and they spread by bone meal to a random adjacent air block. Spore particles are not emitted inside the sporeshroom's home biome.

Ivies and helices

Weeping Ivy and Twisting Ivy are multi-face vine blocks. Right-clicking an ivy with the matching helix item, Weeping Helix or Twisting Helix, sets its helix property. Shears remove the helix and drop the helix item again. Bone meal on a helix ivy spreads the helix to an adjacent ivy. The helices are dye sources: a Weeping Helix produces red dye and a Twisting Helix produces cyan dye.

Glowspores

Lightspores and Nightspores are spore items. Right-clicking Weeping Vines with Lightspores or Twisting Vines with Nightspores makes the vine sporing, which causes it to emit glowing particles. Shearing a sporing vine turns the sporing state off and drops glowspores, and each shear costs one durability on the shears. Nine Lightspores craft into a Shroomlight block, and nine Nightspores craft into a Shroomnight block. Shroomnight emits light at level 8.

Frogmists

Frogmists are zero-hardness blocks that can be liquid-logged in water, lava or ectoplasm. Their collision is invisible unless the player holds a hoe or a frogmist, which the frogmist visible items tag defines. Right-clicking a frogmist with a hoe or another frogmist raises its opacity by one step, up to 4. By default, frogmists can only be broken when a hoe or frogmist is held, because the pack keeps canAnythingBreakFrogmist set to false.

Warped Wart

Warped Wart is a two-block-tall crop that grows on soul sand and on nether wart plantable blocks. It has four growth stages. Each random tick has a 1 in 10 chance to advance the growth stage, and the plant becomes two blocks tall at stage 3. Bone meal on a warped wart block places a Warped Wart Beard, and bone meal on a nether wart block places a Nether Wart Beard. Beards are hanging-root blocks with no collision.

Nylium paths

Using a shovel on Crimson Nylium or Warped Nylium turns the block into a Crimson or Warped Nylium Path. These path blocks have a hardness of 0.4 and require a pickaxe to harvest.
