Armor Trims and Pottery Sherds are two groups of items added by Jaden's Nether Expansion. The first group is three armor trim templates, Rift, Spirit and Valor. Each template defines a trim pattern that a smithing table applies to armor. The second group is seven pottery sherds, which decorate the faces of a decorated pot with new pottery patterns.

The items are scarce. Rift is found in vanilla ruined portal chests, while the Spirit and Valor templates and most of the sherds come from the nether structures of the mod: the Mega Fossils archaeology tables and the Brazier Chests of the Sanctum in Soul Sand Valley. None of the sherds is used as an ingredient in any recipe, so they are only collected for decoration.

Crafting

The three trim templates are crafted in a 3×3 shaped recipe. The template being copied sits in the top centre square, the template's material sits in the centre square, and diamonds fill the other seven squares. The recipe yields two templates, so one template in the input produces a net gain of one. The material differs for each template: Crying Obsidian for Rift, Soul Slate for Spirit and Pale Soul Slate for Valor. See the recipe grids below.

The sherds cannot be crafted.

Loot and drops

Rift is added to the vanilla ruined portal chest table by a loot modifier, with a 50% chance per chest. The Spirit template is found in both Mega Fossil archaeology tables. The common table gives it a weight of 5 out of 70 (about 7.1% per roll) and the rare table gives it a weight of 8 out of 46 (about 17.4% per roll). The common table also gives the Spectre and Marionette sherds a weight of 10 out of 70 each (about 14.3% per roll).

The Brazier Chests in the Sanctum hold the Valor template and five of the sherds. Brazier Chests are locked until a Spark of Treachery is used on them. The exact chance for each item is listed in the table below.

Usage

Armor trims

The three templates are used in minecraft:smithing_trim recipes at a smithing table. The base is any item in the minecraft:trimmable_armor tag, and the addition is any item in the minecraft:trim_materials tag. Applying a template changes only the texture of the armor. It has no effect on the armor's protection or durability. Each trim pattern has a texture for the armor layer and a separate texture for leggings. Each template stacks to 64.

Pottery sherds

The seven sherds are listed in the minecraft:decorated_pot_sherds tag, so a decorated pot accepts any of them on a face. Each sherd is mapped to its own pottery pattern: Sealed, Spectre, Marionette, Eldritch, Deception, Firearm and Botanical. The sherds stack to 64.

Crafting ingredient

The three templates are used in two kinds of recipe. The first kind is the smithing trim recipe, which applies a template to armor. The second kind is the template recipe that makes more templates, described above. The sherds are not used in any recipe. See the table below for every recipe that uses a template.
