Devil's Misfortune is an underground nether structure added by Jaden's Nether Expansion. It is a ruin built from netherrack, blackstone, bone and claret wood, placed at a depth below the nether roof rather than on the surface. In this pack it is rare: its spacing is 57 chunks, and it did not appear in a 26 km² survey of the nether. A player is most likely to find it while exploring nether biomes underground.
The structure's template contains no mobs, spawners or chests. Its main value is the decorative blocks it provides for a build and the loot table listed below.
Generation
Devil's Misfortune generates in the Nether, in these biomes:
- Nether Wastes (vanilla)
- Crystalline Chasm and Visceral Heap, from Biomes O' Plenty (only if that mod is installed)
It uses the underground generation step, and its starting height is chosen at random between Y 32 and two blocks below the top of the world.
Placement uses random spreading with a spacing of 57 chunks and a separation of 15. The pack's Sparse Structures setting raises the spacing from the mod's default of 30, which makes the structure much less common than in an unmodified install.
Layout
Devil's Misfortune is built from a single centre piece. Its template uses:
- netherrack bricks, tiles and pillars, with blackstone and blotted netherrack
- claret planks, stairs, slabs and fences, together with cerebrage claret stem blocks
- bone blocks and bone pikes, with skeleton and cerebrage skulls set among them
- black candles and weeping ivy as small decorations
The centre piece has several jigsaw connectors, which can attach a small rubble piece from the structure's addition pool.
The template contains no traps, puzzles or redstone.
Inhabitants
The structure places no mobs and no spawners. Its skull blocks are decorative. Any monsters found near it are the ones that spawn naturally in the surrounding nether biome.
Loot
The template contains no chests, barrels or other containers, so the structure has no chest loot of its own. The table below lists any loot the game data assigns to it.
Biomes (5): Nether Wastes, Crystalline Chasm, Visceral Heap, Erupting Inferno, Redstone Abyss (Removed)
Tips
- Look for the bone and skull blocks, which are the most distinctive part of the ruin.
- Because the structure is underground, a light source helps when exploring its surroundings.
- Because the structure is rare, it is more efficient to search the nether biomes listed above than to search every chunk.
