Nether Brick and Netherrack Variants are building and decorative blocks added by Jaden's Nether Expansion. They fall into three groups: netherrack-based blocks (smooth netherrack, netherrack bricks, tiles and pillars, plus Blotted Netherrack, which also generates naturally), nether-brick blocks (blue, red and mixed nether bricks, and a nether brick pillar), and quartz and polished blackstone blocks (Quartz Crystal and its block, cracked and chiseled quartz, polished blackstone pillars and fences, and weeping and twisting polished blackstone bricks). Each family includes slabs, stairs and walls where the mod adds them.
The netherrack family has a hardness of 0.4 and a blast resistance of 0.4. The nether-brick and polished blackstone families have a hardness of 2 and a blast resistance of 6. Blocks in these families require a pickaxe, except that the weeping and twisting polished blackstone brick slabs and stairs list no specific tool. Quartz Crystal is mined with a pickaxe but does not require one.
Obtaining
Natural generation
Blotted Netherrack generates in every Nether biome as patches that replace Netherrack only. The feature is placed 4 times per chunk, at heights from 4 blocks above the bottom of the Nether to 4 blocks below the top. Each patch has a radius of up to 12 blocks and a thickness of 4 blocks, and it is pierced by 16 holes with radii of 1 to 5 blocks. Its generation is controlled by the blottedNetherrack setting in the mod config, which is on by default and is left on in Fear Nightfall.
Quartz Crystal generates only in Nether Wastes. The standard variant places 0 to 3 random patches per chunk. Each attempt has a 25% chance to place a crystal on air above Netherrack or Nether Quartz Ore. A second variant places 25 to 30 patches per chunk, and it only places crystals on air above Nether Quartz Ore.

Stonecutter · StonecuttingMost blocks here are crafted in one of two ways: a crafting recipe that uses the base block (for example, the smooth netherrack recipe takes netherrack and gravel), or a stonecutter recipe that cuts a full block into a slab, stair or wall. Crafting and stonecutting ratios are listed in the table above.
Breaking
Breaking Blotted Netherrack without Silk Touch drops Netherrack. With Silk Touch, it drops itself. Breaking Quartz Crystal without Silk Touch drops 1 to 3 Nether Quartz, and Fortune increases the amount. With Silk Touch, it drops the crystal itself.
Usage
Fire and infiniburn
Smooth netherrack, netherrack bricks, netherrack tiles, netherrack pillars, and their slabs, stairs and walls are all in the infiniburn_nether tag, along with Blotted Netherrack. Fire placed on these blocks burns indefinitely, the same as it does on vanilla netherrack. Blue and red nether bricks are not in the tag.
Quartz crafting
Four Quartz Crystals crafted in a 2×2 square make a Quartz Crystal Block with a hardness of 2.5. Cracked Quartz Bricks are made by smelting Quartz Bricks, which takes 200 ticks and gives 0.1 experience. Chiseled Quartz Pillars are made from two Quartz Pillars.
Nether brick mixes
Mixed nether bricks are made by combining two Nether Bricks with two of a coloured brick type. Red Mixed Nether Bricks use Red Nether Bricks, and Blue Mixed Nether Bricks use Blue Nether Bricks. Each recipe produces 4 mixed bricks. Blue Nether Bricks are made from eight Nether Bricks and a Warped Wart Block.
