The Kapok Wood set is a family of blocks and items added by Regions Unexplored. It covers the kapok tree's log, wood and stripped forms, planks, stairs, slabs, fences, fence gates, doors, trapdoors, pressure plates, buttons, signs, hanging signs and boats, along with the sapling, shrub, leaves, branch and vines that belong to the tree. The wood is a building material and fuel. Its tree is generated with a minimum size of 20 and a size variation of 7, and its leaves and vines form a dense canopy. Like the other wood blocks the mod adds, every kapok wood block is flammable.

Obtaining

Natural generation

Kapok trees generate in the Rainforest and Sparse Rainforest biomes. These are Regions Unexplored replacements for the vanilla jungle and sparse jungle biomes. The tree group has 18 placement attempts per chunk in the Rainforest and 6 in the Sparse Rainforest. Placement is restricted to dry ground, since the surface must have no water above it. Kapok trees are one of several tree types in that group, so the number of kapok trees in a given biome depends on the group's selection rather than on a fixed count.

Kapok saplings are placed on the same surface, and the sapling is the item that the tree group checks for survival before placing each tree.

Crafting

The kapok log is the starting material for the whole set. Logs are crafted into kapok wood, and logs and stripped logs are crafted into planks. Most other blocks in the set are crafted from planks. The exact ratios are listed in the table below.

Branch and shrub recipes

The kapok branch is crafted from a kapok log and a stick. The kapok shrub is crafted from two kapok saplings, and it can be turned back into two saplings in the same way. This makes the shrub a way to store saplings compactly.

Usage

Most blocks in the set are used as ordinary building materials. The table below lists every recipe that consumes a kapok item. Kapok planks are the most common ingredient, since they are used for doors, trapdoors, fences, signs, boats, buttons and pressure plates.

Fuel and compost

Kapok logs, planks, stairs, slabs and fences all burn in a furnace. A kapok log provides 1.5 items of fuel, the same as planks, while a kapok boat provides 6 items of fuel. For composting, the logs, wood, planks and leaves each give 30 percent, while the shrub gives 65 percent.

Tools

Every wood block in the set is mined with an axe. The kapok leaves are mined with a hoe. Both the leaves and the sapling belong to the hexerei:herbs item tag, so they are accepted by herb-based recipes in the Hexerei mod.

Animals

Kapok leaves are food for several insects and snails in the Critters and Companions mod. The leaves are food for stick bugs and leaf insects, and they are tempting items for stick bugs, leaf insects and snails.

Boats

The kapok boat is crafted from five kapok planks. A chest can be added to the boat to make a kapok boat with chest. Both boats are the same item class and can be placed on water like any other boat.

Items

Each item in the set is listed in the table below. The sections that follow cover the items whose behaviour is not obvious from the table.

Kapok Vines

Kapok vines grow downward from kapok logs, kapok leaves, and other kapok vines. They attach only to these blocks, and they can grow only into air or water. Vines are climbable, so a player can climb them like a ladder. Growth is slow: the vine head has a 10 percent chance to grow on each random tick, and bone meal can be used to grow the vines by several blocks at once.

Kapok Leaves

Kapok leaves are the canopy of the tree. Their block states include a distance value from 1 to 7 and a persistent flag, which control how they decay when they are not connected to a log.

Kapok Sapling

The kapok sapling grows into a full kapok tree. Its stage property has two values, and it is the same sapling the tree group uses when it places trees in the wild. Two saplings are needed to craft a kapok shrub.

Kapok Shrub

The kapok shrub is a two-block-tall plant that is placed in the same rainforest biomes as the trees. Shrubs are covered further on Branches and Shrubs. It is made from two kapok saplings and can be turned back into two saplings. Its compost value is the highest of any item in the set.

Kapok Branch

The kapok branch is a decorative block that is placed on the trunk of the tree. The branch_mode configuration option in the mod controls how branches are generated on the tree.

Kapok Log and Kapok Wood

The kapok log is the trunk block of the tree. Its wood form is made from four logs, which gives three wood blocks. Both forms have a hardness of 2 and a blast resistance of 2, and both are mined with an axe. Stripped logs and stripped wood are made by using an axe on the natural forms, and they have a blast resistance of 3.

Kapok Boat

The kapok boat is a vehicle for water travel. It is made from five kapok planks and can carry a chest when combined with one, making a kapok boat with chest.
