The Sinful Church is a surface structure added by Sons of Sins that generates in forest biomes in the Overworld. It is a single stone building with stained glass windows, flesh and blood blocks, spawners for zombies and Devourers, and chests that hold the mod's Sickle of Struggle, Osseous tools, organ items and Ether Ashes. Players visit it for the early-game loot, and the Sickle of Struggle is the most useful item it contains.
Generation
The Sinful Church generates in the Overworld in the #minecraft:is_forest biome tag, which covers 41 forest biomes, including Forest, Dark Forest, Birch Forest, Old Growth Forest, Flower Forest and Bamboo Forest. It is placed by a random-spread structure set with a spacing of 26 chunks and a separation of 8 chunks. These are the in-game values after the pack's Sparse Structures scaling; the mod's stock spacing is about 37 chunks. In testing, the church was found at a density of about 8 structures per 26 km².
The structure is a single piece measuring 52 x 46 x 51 blocks. It is placed on the surface with the beard_thin terrain adaptation, which blends the ground around its walls into the surrounding terrain.
Fear Nightfall shortens the spacing of horror structures, including the Sinful Church, by about 30 percent compared with the stock Sons of Sins configuration, so churches are more common in forests than in an unmodified install.
Layout
The church is one building with no separate rooms or floors described in the mod's documentation. Its block palette consists of:
- Walls and floors: granite, polished granite, polished andesite and stone brick, with matching stairs, slabs and walls.
- Windows: stained glass panes in red, lime, yellow and purple, set in iron bars.
- Mod blocks: Urn blocks, Ether Lanterns, a block of hearts, flesh blocks and a Soul Steel chain. See Organ and Muscle Blocks for the organ blocks and Soul Steel for the chain.
- Spawners: the building contains spawners that produce zombies and Devourers.
- Chests: the chests use the Sinful Church loot table, described below.
The mod's documentation does not describe puzzles, locked doors or traps in the church. It is a combat and looting site.
Inhabitants
The church contains two kinds of mob.
- Zombies are ordinary vanilla zombies placed by the structure and produced by its spawners.
- Devourers are the mod's tameable flesh creatures. A Devourer has 30 health and attacks for 9 damage. It heals itself for 2 health on each hit it lands, so a long fight favours the Devourer. It also projects a Cell Division aura that grants Damage Resistance and Cell Division to nearby creatures, with a radius of 1.25 to 8 blocks depending on the creature. Devourers can be tamed.
The church is a horror structure, so approach it with full health.
Loot
The chests in the Sinful Church use the sons_of_sins:chests/sinful_church loot table. The table has seven pools, each rolled once. The first pool has a bonus roll range of 2 to 3. The generated table below gives the exact per-slot chances.
The most useful items are:
- Sickle of Struggle: always dropped by the chest. It is a slicer weapon. See Sons of Sins Tools and Armor.
- Osseous Sword and Osseous Axe: each has about a 50 percent chance. Osseous tools are the start of the mod's tool progression, and killing a mob with one produces Ether Ashes.
- Bucket of Nibbler and Water Bucket: each has about a 50 percent chance. Using the Nibbler bucket spawns a Nibbler.
- Heart, Ribs, Muscle and Flesh of Demise: eating these organ items grants the Allure effect for 1200 ticks, which makes nearby hostile monsters target the player. See Sons of Sins Effects.
- Iron and Ether, Iron Ingot and Ether Ashes: Ether Ashes are used in the Urn and Soul Steel recipes. Iron and Ether is a shapeless recipe made from Ether Ashes and iron.
- Bone and Glass Bottles: Bone is converted into Flesh of Demise in a blood pool, and a Glass Bottle collects blood after a slicer kill.

Tips
Clear the spawners before looting the chests. The church's zombies and Devourers come from them, and a living Devourer keeps healing itself with every hit, so kill it early in the fight.
The Sickle of Struggle removes hit-invulnerability from the mobs it hits, so it can land a second hit without waiting for the usual invulnerability window. Its entity interaction range is 0.5 blocks shorter than the default, so approach targets closely. Sinful tools deal four times their normal damage to the mod's sin creatures.
Store Ether Ashes in an Urn once you have them. An Urn holds up to nine Ether Ashes, and the mod's later recipes and effects draw on it.
