Nibbler is a flesh creature added by Sons of Sins. It is a tamable, amphibious mob with 35 health and a melee attack of 5 damage. Wild Nibblers attack players, villagers and water animals. Every hit a Nibbler lands removes the victim's hit invulnerability, so the victim can be struck again at once.
Nibblers give a Cell Division aura to nearby creatures, and a player can capture a Nibbler in a bucket and carry it. A Nibbler that dies while it has Cell Division splits into two. In Fear Nightfall, Nibblers are found mainly as loot in the Sinful Church.
Spawning
Nibblers have no natural spawn rules, so they do not appear in any biome on their own. A Nibbler is obtained in one of these ways:
- Right-clicking a block with a
Bucket of Nibbler (or the lava variant) summons a Nibbler at that block. The Nibbler keeps the name, health and baby status stored on the bucket. - Using a
Nibbler Spawn Egg. - Killing a Nibbler that has the Cell Division effect, which spawns two Nibblers at its death position (see Drops below).
- Opening a chest in the Sinful Church, which can contain a Bucket of Nibbler.
The Sinful Church is a single-piece structure placed in forest biomes. In Fear Nightfall, Sons of Sins structures are placed about 30% closer together than in the base mods.
Does not spawn naturally in any biome (see Obtaining/Spawning text).
Behavior
A wild Nibbler is hostile. Its target goals are Players, Villagers and WaterAnimals, and it tracks them within 48 blocks. It also retaliates against anything that damages it. A tamed Nibbler stops targeting those three types. It attacks only creatures that hurt its owner, or creatures that the owner has hurt.
Melee. The Nibbler's melee attack deals 5 damage. It winds up while its target is within 8 blocks and swings once the target is within about 1.5 blocks. The swing lasts 16 ticks and deals its damage 10 ticks in. Each hit it lands sets the victim's invulnerability timer to zero.
Ranged. The Nibbler also fires a projectile every 20 ticks. It only fires at targets within 1.5 blocks, so the ranged attack works at close range.
Movement. The Nibbler is amphibious. In water it swims toward its target and drifts slightly upward. On land its movement is greatly reduced and it flops in place with random sideways nudges.
Cell Division. Like the other flesh creatures of the mod, the Nibbler grants Damage Resistance and Cell Division to creatures near it every tick. The radius is between 1.25 and 8 blocks and varies by creature. A Nibbler that dies while it has the Cell Division effect splits into two Nibblers.
Taming. A wild Nibbler can be fed flesh items. Each feeding has a one-in-three chance to tame it. An owner who feeds a damaged tamed Nibbler restores health equal to the food's nutrition value.
Capture. A player holding a Water Bucket can right-click an untamed Nibbler, or one the player owns, to capture it. The Nibbler is removed and the bucket becomes a Bucket of Nibbler. If the player holds a stack of water buckets, the rest of the stack stays in the hand and the Bucket of Nibbler goes to the inventory. A Nibbler with Fire Resistance is captured with a Lava Bucket instead, which yields the lava variant of the Bucket of Nibbler.
Drops
Every Nibbler drops one Flesh of Demise on death, in addition to the standard loot table listed below. A Nibbler that dies while it has the Cell Division effect spawns two new Nibblers at its death position, and those Nibblers are summoned rather than naturally spawned.
Nibbler
No item drops.
Variants
The page covers two entities.
- Nibbler is the tamable form described above.
- Nibbler Organs is a separate hostile form with the Monster category. It is much weaker than the Nibbler, with about 10 health and 3 attack damage, and it cannot be tamed.

Tips
- Keep a Nibbler tamed if it is near villages or animal pens. A wild Nibbler will go after villagers.
- Capture Nibblers with a water bucket to move them, instead of killing them. A captured Nibbler can be released again by right-clicking a block with its bucket.
- Expect two Nibblers when a Nibbler with Cell Division dies. Clear the split before leaving the area.
- Because each Nibbler hit clears invulnerability, other attackers can land hits in quick succession while a Nibbler is fighting you. Fight it with a second player or a tamed companion.
- On land a Nibbler is slow. Move away from it, and fight it in the water only if you can keep up with it there.
