Better Jungle Temple is a structure added by YUNG's Better Jungle Temples that replaces the vanilla jungle temple with a multi-floor design of trapped rooms, puzzle chambers and a treasure room. The mod adds no blocks, items, mobs, recipes or enchantments. The structure is built from vanilla blocks and uses two loot tables of its own. Players mainly visit it for the treasure room, which holds a large number of emeralds, and for the dispenser traps that make the interior hazardous.

Fear Nightfall does not treat this structure as a horror feature. It is not one of the pack's horror structures, and the pack's Sparse Structures setup places non-horror structures about three times less often than the mod's default spacing would.

Generation

The structure generates in the Overworld. Its biome selection follows the vanilla jungle temple biome tag, which the pack expands to 16 biomes. These include ordinary jungle types such as the Tropical Jungle, Rocky Jungle and Bamboo Forest, along with biomes from other mods such as the Fungal Jungle and Jungle Mountains. The full list is generated in the infobox and the structure table at the end of the page.

Placement is controlled by the structure set betterjungletemples:jungle_temples. The mod's default placement spacing is 24 chunks with a separation of 8 chunks. Fear Nightfall raises these to a spacing of 46 chunks and a separation of 15 chunks, so temples are far apart. No temple appeared in the 26 km² sample the pack used to measure structure density.

Each candidate position is rejected if a river or ocean biome lies within 48 blocks of its centre. Temples therefore do not start next to large bodies of water. Its placement ignores waterlogging.

The mod's default configuration disables vanilla jungle temples, so the vanilla Jungle Pyramid does not generate in the pack. The disable rule matches by structure type rather than by id, so any structure of the vanilla jungle temple type added by another mod or a datapack is suppressed as well. /locate structure minecraft:jungle_pyramid returns an error and points the player to betterjungletemples:jungle_temple instead.

Layout

A temple is assembled from a chain of template pieces. The chain starts with an entrance and stairs at the top, continues through two floors of rooms, a pit and a set of challenge rooms, and ends at the treasure room. Each piece is picked at random from its template pool, so the rooms in one temple differ from those in the next.

The first floor contains pressure-plate rooms, puzzle rooms and back rooms. The second floor opens onto a hallway and a weighted pool of rooms, including corridors with dripstone, vines or water, parkour rooms and pit rooms with dripstone or magma variants. The challenge rooms include statue rooms, a serpent-back room, emerald-water and emerald-gravel rooms, and a water parkour. The treasure room has seven variants, two of which are filled with water.

Traps are placed by processors when the structure generates. Most torches are removed, so about 90 percent of the torches in the structure are missing, and the player should expect to work in dim interiors. Empty dispensers are filled in each of their nine slots independently: 20 percent receive an arrow, 10 percent receive a tipped arrow that applies poison, and the remaining 70 percent stay empty. Tipped arrows always carry poison because the mod's Pick Your Poison integration is disabled on NeoForge. Fireball dispensers hold fire charges, with each slot filled 10 percent of the time and slot 4 always filled. Blast furnace blocks in the templates become dispensers, droppers (40 percent) or observers (20 percent).

Pack-specific rooms appear only when the related mod is installed. Create adds a sawblade room and a crushing corridor. Create together with Supplementaries adds a second crushing corridor. Supplementaries adds a spike pit, and Alex's Mobs adds a crocodile pit. Installing or removing these mods changes which rooms a given temple can contain.

Inhabitants

The structure's spawn overrides set the monster, creature and ambient spawn lists to empty inside each piece of the temple. Mobs do not spawn naturally within the temple's bounds, although mobs outside those bounds are unaffected.

The templates themselves place bees and silverfish. The silverfish come from infested stone variants that replace some cobblestone and stone brick blocks in the walls and floors. Breaking an infested block releases a silverfish, so these blocks should be mined carefully in a narrow corridor.

The temple has no boss, no custom spawner and no villagers. Its threats are the traps described under Layout and the infested blocks. The crocodile pit appears only with Alex's Mobs installed.

Loot

The treasure room's chests use the mod's treasure table. Gold ingots (92 percent) and emeralds (100 percent) are the most common entries. Emeralds are guaranteed: the table rolls six to eight times, and each roll yields two to five emeralds, so a single chest can hold 12 to 40 emeralds. The treasure table also has a smaller chance of diamonds (29 percent), smithing templates (33 percent) and blank runestones (5 percent). A treasure chest yields one to three rolls from diamonds and gold ingots, with gold ingots weighted much more heavily than diamonds.

The campsite props use a separate campsite table with one to three rolls. Its entries are mostly everyday materials such as iron ingots, bamboo, bone, rotten flesh and saddles, plus iron, gold and diamond horse armour. The generated tables below list the chest tables used by the structure, including the vanilla jungle temple table, and the chance of each entry.

Tips

Carry shields or armour that can block arrows before entering the rooms with dispensers, and expect the tipped arrows to poison you. Fire charges set you alight, so fire resistance or a bucket of water helps in the fireball rooms. Bring your own light, because most torches are removed during generation. Clear infested blocks before walking through a corridor, since each one releases a silverfish when broken. The treasure room at the end of the chain holds the richest chests.
