Rocky Jungle is a hot, wet jungle biome added by Terralith. It mixes dense jungle vegetation with exposed stone and andesite cliffs, and it has lava lakes and a large set of ores and structures. Players come here for the diamonds and mithril, for the jungle ruins and temples, and for the monsters that spawn in the dark.

Description

The ground is grass block over stone, with cliff formations of stone and andesite columns rising through the vegetation. Jungle trees, vines, bamboo, glow lichen, warm-climate flowers, sugar cane, pumpkins and melon patches cover the flat areas. Brown and red mushrooms grow on the forest floor.

The biome uses the vanilla jungle sounds: the ambient cave loop and the overworld jungle music. Its grass and foliage are a yellow-green, its water is a bright aqua, and its sky and fog are a pale blue.

Generation

Rocky Jungle is a warm, humid biome. Its climate is temperature 0.95 and downfall 0.9, and it rains. Terralith's jungle tags place it among the other jungle-type biomes. In the pack's biome table, biomes that share a climate cell split it by weight, and same-type biomes sit next to each other, so Rocky Jungle borders other jungles such as Jungle Mountains and Tropical Jungle.

Rocky Jungle is rare in Fear Nightfall. It covers about 0.24% of land. The infobox gives the share.

Fear Nightfall does not weight this biome for horror. Jungles stay at normal weight, and the 6× horror weighting applies to dark forests, swamps, taigas and similar biomes.

Features

The biome has a lot of ore. Vanilla coal, iron, copper, gold, redstone, lapis and diamond are all placed in multiple layers, including buried and large diamond veins. The pack adds Born in Chaos ores (infected diamond ore, infected deepslate diamond ore and black argillite), Mithril ore from Iron's Spells, and sulfur ore from Butchery (see Sulfur).

Vegetation is dense. Jungle trees, vines, bamboo, glow lichen and mushrooms spread across the floor. Sugar cane and pumpkin patches grow in the open areas, and melon patches appear in the jungle clearings. Wild rice, wild flax and silk cocoons from the pack's food and critter mods also grow here.

The biome has lava. Surface lava lakes, underground lava lakes and lava springs all appear, so check the ground before walking across open ground at night. Underwater magma blocks are placed in the rock below the water.

Mobs and structures

The generated tables below list every mob and structure that can appear in Rocky Jungle. The most common hostiles are the vanilla spider, skeleton, creeper and slime, each at weight 100, with zombies close behind at 95. Enderman and witch are less common.

Born in Chaos adds most of the notable hostiles. Dread Hound has weight 7 here, and Mr. and Mrs. Pumpkin have weight 7 for Mr. Pumpkin and 6 for Mrs Pumpkin. Krampus and Lifestealer have weight 1, and Nightmare Stalker has weight 2, so they are rare. Ghouls from the Graveyard mod have weight 25.

Rocky Jungle has 162 structures. Notable ones include the Illager Hideout and Manor, the Catacombs from Iron's Spells, the Firewell from Born in Chaos, the Graveyard Ruins and the Jungle Tree Village. Jungle temples and jungle ruins from vanilla and mods are also present.

Fear Nightfall places horror structures about 30% closer together than vanilla spacing. Dead trees, catacombs and graveyard structures are among them, so they appear more often here than in a vanilla world.

Tips

Treat Rocky Jungle as a night biome. The Graveyard Hordes mechanic can send a horde at a player anywhere in the overworld, not only in this biome. When it fires at night, there is a 1-in-5 roll to start a horde 24 to 47 blocks away from a random online player. Hordes are made of ghouls and revenants or illagers, so keep a light source and a retreat route.

Watch for the surface and underground lava lakes and the lava springs. Canopies and vines hide the ground, so mark your route with torches before walking through the trees at night.

Mine here if you need diamonds, mithril or sulfur. The ore features are spread through the stone at many depths, so a cave wall can show several ore types.
