The Towns and Towers Wreckage and Mimic are two structures added by Towns and Towers. The mimic desert temple is a sandstone pyramid with a booby-trapped central chamber, a trap corridor and a husk spawner in a side passage. The ocean wreckage is a small sunken ship hull with three supply barrels. Both use the same structure set, so a player finds at most one of them at a given spot. Players seek them out for their loot: the temple's trapped chests and the wreckage's village-style barrels.

Neither structure is part of the pack's horror weighting. Both are subject to the pack's sparse structure tuning, which spaces non-horror structures much further apart than the mod default.

Generation

Both structures generate in the Overworld. They share the towns_and_towers:other structure set, which holds one entry for each. The set's combined weight is 2, so each structure takes half of the placements. Each has an in-game spacing of 92 chunks and a separation of 46 chunks. Each spawns only in its own biome group.

Their rarity differs in practice. In a 26 km² sample the ocean wreckage appeared once. The mimic desert temple did not appear in the same sample, so it should be treated as rare.

Mimic desert temple

The mimic desert temple spawns in the biome group that vanilla uses for desert pyramids. The pack rebuilt that group as a union of the vanilla biomes and the biomes added by Biomes O' Plenty, Regions Unexplored and Terralith, so the temple can appear in many modded deserts as well as in vanilla deserts. Its 15 listed biomes include two different "Lush Desert" biomes, one from Biomes O' Plenty and one from Terralith.

The temple starts at Y 35 and is 35 blocks tall. The structure has no terrain adaptation, so how much of it shows above ground depends on the surrounding terrain. It is generated in the fluid springs step.

Ocean wreckage

The ocean wreckage spawns in the four vanilla ocean biomes: ocean, cold ocean, lukewarm ocean and warm ocean. It is generated in the underground decoration step and anchored at Y 62, close to sea level (Y 63). It has no terrain adaptation, so its position relative to the ocean floor depends on the depth of the water where it spawns. The wreckage is 14 blocks by 3 blocks by 14 blocks.

Layout

Mimic desert temple

The temple is built from a central pyramid and a passage chain. The pyramid is 21 by 35 by 21 blocks, mostly sandstone, with cut sandstone, chiseled sandstone and orange terracotta accents. A jigsaw connector on one side leads into the first passage.

The central chamber sits on the ground floor. It holds a stone pressure plate with a trapped chest two blocks away on each side. Twelve TNT blocks are laid in a diamond-shaped cluster two levels below the plate. Two pistons and two repeaters are placed in the redstone components beside the chamber. The chests are trapped, and the TNT and redstone are built around them. The exact wiring is best observed in game rather than inferred from the template.

The first passage is 12 by 6 by 10 blocks and is a trap corridor. It contains a dispenser, a sticky piston, two lava blocks, tripwire hooks with tripwire, and redstone torches. A connector at its far end leads to the second passage.

The second passage is 9 by 7 by 9 blocks. It contains a husk spawner, three simple dungeon chests and a gold block. The spawner is set to spawn four husks per cycle, with up to six nearby entities, a spawn range of 4 blocks and a required player range of 16 blocks. Its spawn delay is between 200 and 800 ticks. This passage ends the chain, with an unused connector.

Ocean wreckage

The wreckage is a single template: a broken hull built from spruce logs and spruce slabs, with dark oak planks and black wool. Three barrels are placed on the hull. The wreckage has no connected pieces, so it is always a single small ship.

Inhabitants

The structures place no mobs of their own, apart from the husk spawner in the mimic desert temple's second passage. Husks are the desert variant of the zombie, so the spawner fits the temple's setting.

The ocean wreckage places no mobs. Any mobs near it come from the ocean's ordinary spawns.

Loot

Mimic desert temple

The four trapped chests in the central chamber draw from the vanilla desert pyramid loot table. Its best entries are Arcane Essence at a 46% chance, an Enchanted Book at 26%, a Saddle at 25%, a Golden Apple at 23% and Iron Horse Armor at 20%. The three simple dungeon chests in the second passage draw from the vanilla simple dungeon table.

Ocean wreckage

Each of the three barrels draws from a different table. The first draws from the vanilla shipwreck supply table, with rope, suspicious stew and common crops. The second draws from the vanilla village armorer table, which holds the Iron Golem Traveler's Backpack at a 14% chance. The third draws from the vanilla village weaponsmith table, with iron tools, iron armor and gold ingots.

Tips

  • The central chamber of the temple is trapped. Approach the trapped chests and the pressure plate with care, and check the TNT layout before you open anything.
  • The husk spawner only activates when a player is within 16 blocks. Stay outside that range if you want to avoid the husks, or clear the passage quickly.
  • The temple's passages are narrow and set with tripwire and lava. Look before you step, and check the lava blocks in the first passage.
  • The wreckage is small and quick to loot. Check all three barrels, since the armorer barrel is the only place in the structure to find the Iron Golem Traveler's Backpack.
