The Galleon is a pirate ship structure added by Supplementaries. It is a multi-part ship with sails, moored cannon boats and a crew of pirates, placed on the surface of deep ocean. Each galleon holds a plunderer and a pillager on deck, and its safes and cannon boats are a source of cannon ammunition, bombs and armour. The ships are hostile, and the crew fights on sight.

Generation

Galleons generate in the Overworld, only in the twelve ocean biomes tagged for them by the mod: Ocean, Cold Ocean, Lukewarm Ocean, Deep Ocean, Frozen Ocean, Deep Cold Ocean, Deep Lukewarm Ocean, Warm Ocean, Rocky Reef, Deep Frozen Ocean, Hyacinth Deeps and Deep Warm Ocean. Rocky Reef and Hyacinth Deeps come from the Regions Unexplored mod.

A galleon only generates where the terrain surface sits exactly at sea level, so it is placed on open water at the sea surface and not on seafloor slopes. Its placement is also limited to the deeper open-ocean part of the continentalness range, so it does not appear in shallow coastal water. The structure uses a start offset of -3 blocks and ignores waterlogging. The structure needs the rope feature from the mod to be enabled.

The structure set uses random-spread placement with the in-game spacing and separation shown in the infobox. Galleons are kept away from villages (16 chunks) and ocean monuments (5 chunks). The pack spreads the structure out, so galleons are rare: the observed density is about 2 per 26 km², and a player will usually need to sail some distance to find one.

Layout

A galleon is built from about 17 templates. The start piece is the full galleon template, and the mod's processors remove any blocks disabled in its config. The rest of the ship is assembled from these pieces:

  • Hull: start, middle and end sections, plus front, middle and back hull sections and several room variants.
  • Orlop: a lower-deck piece with two room variants.
  • Sails: four sail variants placed on the masts.
  • Cannon boats: dark oak boats moored along the hull. Each boat carries a plunderer and a pillager as passengers and rolls the cannon loot table (see Loot below). They use terrain-matching placement.
  • Urns: an urn patch of ruin urns.
  • Deck spawns: a pool that places a plunderer (weight 4), a pillager (weight 1) or nothing (weight 1) at each deck spawn point.

Several templates also place vanilla mobs: allays, iron golems and ravagers, alongside the pirate crew.

The cannon boats are the ship's cannons. Cannon and cannon boat mechanics are covered in Cannons and Cannon Boats.

Inhabitants

The structure's spawn box keeps one pillager and one Plunderer inside the ship, so the crew is hostile from the moment the ship is loaded. The plunderer is a pirate illager with an inventory, and it is the main threat on deck. Parrots follow plunderers and land on them. Pillagers can use the cannon boats.

Plunderers also appear in naval raids. In a naval raid wave, a pillager is replaced by a plunderer with a 0.5 chance. Raids that take place on water are described in Raids and Illagers.

The ship has no boss and no spawner. Its crew is made of ordinary hostile mobs.

Loot

The most valuable loot on a galleon is in its safes and cannon boats, not its chests.

  • Safe: a single roll picks one of the Blue Bomb, a diamond axe, a golden sword or one of several sub-tables. A second pool rolls 3 to 6 times from books, emeralds, gold ingots, diamonds, TNT, a nautilus shell, a spectral arrow and an experience bottle. A further pool gives a set of iron armour or a tools set (compass, clock, spyglass and hourglass), or nothing. See Safe.
  • Cannon boats: gunpowder is the most common result (weight 7 of 8), with a second roll of arrows, cannonballs and bombs.
  • Key: the key table gives a Key with 2 to 4 rolls of string or cobweb. The Key is a trinket-slot item from the mod.
  • Chests: each chest rolls from three pools, one roll, 2 to 4 rolls and 3 to 6 rolls.

The generated tables below list the full contents and percentages.

Tips

Expect the crew on deck before you board. Each cannon boat has a plunderer and a pillager, and deck spawns add more, so bring a ranged weapon, a shield and food before you go aboard. A Slingshot can hit crew members at range.

Open the safes before you leave. They are the only place on the ship that gives the Blue Bomb, along with the armour and tools. The cannon boats are the best source of gunpowder, arrows, cannonballs and bombs. Bring Bombs of your own for the boats that are out of melee reach.

Galleons are rare and far out at sea, so plan the trip with spare food and a way back to shore.
