The Flags, Buntings and Awnings are three families of decorative blocks added by Supplementaries. Each family comes in 16 dye colours, plus a plain awning. Flags stand on the ground and can be raised and lowered along a stick pole, buntings hang from ceilings and rope, and awnings attach to walls and bounce entities that land on them. All three are made only by crafting, and none of them generate in the world, appear in loot or come from mob drops or villager trades. Their main use is as building decoration.
Obtaining
Flags, buntings and awnings are not found in the world, in chests, on mobs or in villager trades. Every one is crafted from wool, string, sticks, flax or dye. Awnings depend on Flax, which can be found growing wild or obtained from Farmer and Wandering Trader villagers (see Villager Trades).
Crafting
6 more recipes
Flags take 6 wool of one colour and 1 stick. Buntings take 3 string and 4 wool for 6 buntings. The plain awning takes 3 flax and 2 sticks for 2 awnings. Recolouring is done by crafting a plain or white item with a dye: a white bunting plus a dye gives a bunting of that colour, and an awning plus a dye gives an awning of that colour.
Usage
Flags
Flags are single-block, 16-stack decorations with a model 8 pixels wide. A placed flag faces the player. Flags are flammable, have a hardness of 1, and can be waterlogged. Flags can be decorated with banner patterns at a loom, with the flag's own colour as the base colour.
A flag can also be marked on a map. Using a map on a flag toggles a custom map marker at the flag's position.
Flag poles
A flag connected to a stick can be moved along the pole. Right-clicking a flag with an empty hand moves it upward along the connected stick column, and sneaking while right-clicking moves it down. The behaviour is controlled by the stick_pole option, which is on by default. The pole can be at most pole_length blocks long, which defaults to 16 (maximum 256).
Awnings
Awnings are overhangs with a hardness of 1 that are harvested with shears. An awning needs a solid block behind it, an adjacent awning, or a solid block beside it to stay in place. Clicking the lower part of a block face places the awning in the lower half of its block space, and clicking the upper part places it in the upper half.
Right-clicking an awning with an empty hand toggles it between flat and slanted. Slanting is controlled by the slant option, which is on by default. A slanted awning bounces entities at an angle set by the angle option, which defaults to about 69.4 degrees. The bounce only happens when an entity falls faster than 0.32 blocks per tick. Slower entities stop their downward movement instead. Entities in the cant_bounce_off_awnings tag do not bounce.
Landing on an awning does not cause fall damage. Sneaking lets entities pass down through an awning, controlled by the shift_through option, which is on by default.
Buntings
There are two kinds of bunting.
- Ceiling buntings hang from the block above them and need a sturdy block directly above to stay in place. They have no collision and a hardness of 0.
- Rope buntings are placed on rope blocks. Each rope block can hold one bunting on each of its four horizontal sides. A bunting pops off if its rope no longer supports it.
Rope buntings can be washed back to white, which removes their dye colour.
Banner Pattern
The Banner Pattern item, named Dragon Charge, is made from paper and a dragon head. It is used on a loom together with a flag, like any vanilla banner pattern.
Items
Each family has one item per dye colour, and awnings also have a plain form. The Banner Pattern is a single item. Flags, awnings and buntings all stack to 16 or 64 items and are flammable. See Supplementaries Building Blocks for the rest of the mod's building blocks.
