The Soap and Bubbles set is a group of four items and blocks added by Supplementaries: Soap, Soap Block, Bubble Blower and Bubble Block. Soap cleans dyed blocks and mobs, removes slime from entities, and serves as the fuel for the Bubble Blower. The Bubble Blower places temporary Bubble Blocks, which pop when touched and can be made to last longer by placing Soap Blocks next to them.
Obtaining
Soap, Soap Block and Bubble Blower are all made by crafting. The Bubble Block has no crafting recipe and no loot table, so it is only ever created by a Bubble Blower.
Crafting
Soap is made in two ways. Nine Soap items craft one Soap Block, and a Soap Block crafts back into nine Soap. A water bucket, four ash and one raw porkchop make six Soap. The Bubble Blower is made from four iron nuggets and one iron ingot. Its recipe is unlocked once the player has iron ingots and iron nuggets in the inventory.
Usage
Soap
Soap is a stackable item with a maximum stack size of 64. It is also a food item with 0 hunger and a saturation modifier of 0.1. A player can always start eating it, even at full hunger, but the first bite is the only one that does anything useful: the food gives Poison III for 6 seconds, and the first time a player eats soap, the "Tide Pod Challenge" advancement is granted. After that, right-clicking with Soap does not eat it again.
Soap has four in-world uses, and each one consumes one Soap:
- Slimed entities. A living entity covered by the slimed effect is cleaned by right-clicking it with Soap. A player who is slimed can also use Soap on themselves, which clears the effect.
- Sheep. Right-clicking a sheep that is not white turns its wool white.
- Wither skeletons. Right-clicking a wither skeleton with Soap converts it into a regular skeleton.
- Slimes. Right-clicking a Slime with Soap deals 2 damage to it.
- Tamed animals. Right-clicking a tamed wolf or cat that is owned by the player orders it to sit.
Soap also cleans dyed blocks in the world. By default, block cleaning is enabled. Some dyed types, including glazed terracotta, are on a blacklist and cannot be cleaned. Soap is also used in several crafting recipes that remove dye from dyed items.
Soap Block
The Soap Block is a solid block that slides entities. When a living entity steps on it, the block has a 14% chance per step to push the entity sideways by a random angle between 20° and 93°. Each step also has a 14% chance to clear the slimed effect from a living entity that is standing on it. Soap Blocks also keep Bubble Blocks alive. A Bubble Block next to a Soap Block has its age reset every 20 ticks, so it does not expire while the Soap Block is in place.
Bubble Blower
The Bubble Blower is a non-stackable tool with a bar that shows its charges. Its tooltip reads "Soap" with the current and maximum number of charges. The default maximum is 200 charges. A charge is a unit of soap, and each Soap item used to refill the blower adds 250 charges. Refilling can exceed the maximum, so the tool may hold more than 200 charges if it is overfilled.
Right-clicking with a Bubble Blower that has charges and no enchantment begins a continuous blow. Each tick consumes one charge while the item is held, and the blower makes a bubble sound and suds particles. The blow has no other effect, and the blower does not create any blocks unless it has the Stasis enchantment.
The Stasis enchantment changes this behaviour. An enchanted Bubble Blower places a Bubble Block on a single right-click instead of blowing. Each Bubble Block costs 5 charges, so a full 200-charge blower places up to 40 Bubble Blocks before it runs dry. In survival, the blower can only place a Bubble Block within 2 blocks of the player; in creative mode the normal block reach is used. If the targeted block cannot be replaced, the Bubble Block is placed in the position next to it. A dispenser holding an enchanted blower places a Bubble Block in the same way. Slingshots can also receive Stasis.
Bubble Block
The Bubble Block is a full block with no collision on most sides. Living entities cannot walk through it from the side or from below, but they can stand on top of it. The block has a hardness of 0, so it breaks instantly.
A Bubble Block pops, which removes it, in these cases (the touch and fall pops are on by default and can be turned off in the mod's configuration):
- Any entity that moves into it pops it immediately.
- A living entity that stands on it pops it after 5 ticks.
- A living entity that falls onto it pops it immediately if the fall is more than 3 blocks. A shorter fall pops it after between 1 and 5 ticks, depending on the fall distance.
- A Bubble Block with a lifetime of 1200 ticks (one minute) has a 1 in 500 chance per tick of popping on its own once the lifetime has passed.
Wearing boots with the Feather Falling enchantment prevents a living entity wearing them from popping a Bubble Block by standing on it or falling onto it. The lifetime can be set to infinite in the mod's configuration.
