The Wild Crops and Crates are a group of blocks added by Farmer's Delight. They consist of three wild plants that generate naturally in the overworld (Wild Carrot, Wild Potato and Sea Beet), the Sandy Shrub, which is placed on sand, and three solid storage crates for the carrot, potato and beetroot crops. The wild plants are small flowers that work with the suspicious stew, and the crates are a compact way to hold a crop. Each wild plant can be cut on a cutting board for a crop and dyes.

Obtaining

Natural generation

Wild Carrot, Wild Potato and Sea Beet are placed as patches in the overworld. Each placed feature passes a rarity filter: Wild Carrot is 1 in 120, Wild Potato is 1 in 100, and Sea Beet is 1 in 30.

  • Wild Carrot generates in overworld biomes with a temperature from 0.4 to 0.9. It does not generate in Lush Caves or Mushroom Fields.
  • Wild Potato generates in cold overworld biomes with a temperature from 0.1 to 0.3. It does not generate underground.

The wild plants can only be placed on dirt or sand blocks. The Sandy Shrub can only be placed on sand.

Crafting

Carrot, Potato and Beetroot crates are crafted from nine of the matching crop. The crates are gated by the mod's Vanilla Crop Crates option, which is enabled by default. If the option is disabled, the three vanilla crate recipes are unavailable.

Usage

Wild plant effects

The three wild plants are flowers, so they can be used as a suspicious stew ingredient. Each plant gives a different effect:

See Flower Effects and Suspicious Stew for how the effects combine. All wild plants have a hardness of 0, so they break instantly. They are flammable: their flammability is 100 and their fire spread speed is 60, so fire spreads through patches quickly. They have a compost chance of 65%.

Cutting board

Each wild plant can be cut on a cutting board. The output is a crop item plus a dye, or seeds and a dye for Sea Beet. Some outputs have a 50% chance. See the table below.

Bone meal

Wild plants accept bone meal with an 80% success chance. A successful use places a copy of the plant on a nearby empty block that it can survive on, within one block horizontally and vertically. Spreading stops once the 9 by 3 by 9 area around the plant already holds 10 copies of the same plant.

Sandy Shrub

The Sandy Shrub has a hardness of 0 and a compost chance of 30%. It can be harvested for straw with a knife, with a 30% chance per block.

Storage crates

The crates are solid blocks with no inventory. They have a hardness of 2 and a blast resistance of 3, and they are mined with an axe. Each crate is in the storage block tag (c:storage_blocks). They serve as a compact storage form of the crop, and crafting a crate back into its crop yields nine items.

Biome weighting

In this pack, horror biomes such as Dark Forest and Spider Nest are weighted 6 times more heavily in biome selection. Wild plant patches are therefore more likely to be found in these biomes where their climate filters match.
