The Fillet Knives and Fish Fillets group is a set of tools, food and by-products added by Aquaculture. A fillet knife is a sword-class tool that is used to butcher caught fish on a Cutting Board, turning each fish into raw fish fillets and, occasionally, fish bones. Raw fillets can be cooked into food, and fillets are also an ingredient in Aquaculture Delight dishes such as sushi. The knives turn the fish caught with fishing rods into fillets for food.

The group contains five crafted knife tiers (wooden, stone, iron, gold and diamond), the raw and cooked fillets, sushi, and fish bones. A sixth knife, the Neptunium fillet knife, is part of the Neptunium tier and is covered in the Neptunium article.

Each fillet knife is a shaped recipe of two material ingredients and one stick. The knives' durability and attack damage depend on their material:

Fish fillets and bones are not crafted. They come from cutting a caught fish on a Cutting Board, which is described in the Usage section. Cooked fillets are produced by cooking raw fillets, and sushi is crafted from a raw fillet and seagrass.

Fish yield

A fish's fillet count sets how many raw fillets a single cut produces. Fish yields in the mod data run from 0 to 14 per fish. The highest yields are the Atlantic Halibut (14), Pacific Halibut (12), Capitaine (10), Arapaima (10) and Tuna (10). Atlantic Cod gives 6 and Catfish gives 6. Minnow, Jellyfish and Goldfish give none. Vanilla Cod, Salmon and Pufferfish also yield fillets, at 4, 2 and 1 respectively.

Fish bones come from the same cut. Each cut of a fish has a 10% chance to add one Fish Bones to the output.

Usage

Fillet knives

A fillet knife is a sword-class weapon. It uses the sword attack and is accepted as a knife in other mods' recipes through the c:tools/knife and c:tools/knives tags. The Gold Fillet Knife is in the minecraft:piglin_loved tag, the same tag used for gold tools and the Gold Fishing Rod.

Each fish cut with a durable knife uses durability. The Neptunium knife is the exception and does not lose durability. Once a durable knife breaks, it must be recrafted.

The Wooden Fillet Knife is a fuel item. It burns for 150 ticks, which is 0.75 of a standard fuel item.

Cutting Board

Fish are butchered on a Cutting Board with a fillet knife. The cutting board recipes list each fish with its fillet yield and bone chance. The fish's species determines the number of raw fillets. Fish bones are used for two recipes and can be crafted into 3 Bone Meal.

Cooking fillets

Raw Fish Fillets are cooked in three ways. Each recipe gives one Cooked Fish Fillet and 0.35 experience:

• Campfire: 600 ticks (30 seconds)
• Smoker: 100 ticks (5 seconds)
• Furnace: 200 ticks (10 seconds)

Cooked fillets are food and restore more hunger than raw fillets.

Food and dishes

Sushi is crafted from one raw fillet and one seagrass. It is food that restores more hunger than either fillet, and it is used in the Aquaculture Delight meals. Fish Bones and Algae are used together in a cooking pot to make an Unlucky Fisher Chowder.

Neptunium fillet knife

The Neptunium fillet knife does not lose durability, and its default durability and max-damage components are removed. Its fish yield is 25% higher than a standard knife, which means the yield from the same fish is larger with the Neptunium knife. See the Neptunium article for its tier details.
