The Aquaculture Delight mod for Minecraft 1.21.1 NeoForge adds cooking and cutting-board recipes for fish from the Aquaculture mod, along with a set of foods, one knife and a multi-stage block called the Crispy Roll Medley. Most of its foods are cooked in a Cooking Pot from Farmer's Delight, and most of them restore more hunger than the fish dishes that Farmer's Delight provides by itself. A player cares about it mainly because it turns the raw fish, sushi and turtles of Aquaculture into a full set of meals.

The mod declares no dependencies, but it does not work fully without Farmer's Delight and Aquaculture. Its recipes and tags refer to items from both mods, and the Crispy Roll Medley needs Aquaculture sushi to unpack. One dish also depends on an effect from a separate comfort mod. The pack patches that dish (see In Fear Nightfall below).

Overview

Aquaculture Delight sits between two food systems that already exist in the pack. Farmer's Delight supplies the cooking pot, the cutting board, the skillet and its effects. Aquaculture supplies the fish, the sushi and the neptunium ingot. The mod adds the recipes that join them, and it adds no new mobs, biomes, structures, dimensions, enchantments, potions or advancements. Its only changes outside its own items are a handful of tags, some recipes, and one death event for vanilla sea turtles.

In Fear Nightfall the mod is a food source rather than a threat. Its items are not placed in chests or dropped by mobs, so the player obtains them by cooking, cutting and crafting. The raw fish come from Fishing and from Aquaculture.

Content

The mod adds 30 items and 8 blocks. The items are 21 foods, the Neptunium Knife and 8 block items for the Crispy Roll Medley. They are all in the creative tab Aquaculture Delight. The full list of foods, with recipes, is on Aquaculture Delight Dishes.

Foods

The 21 foods are grouped here by how they are made.

  • Cooking pot dishes. Thirteen recipes take 200 ticks (10 seconds) in a Cooking Pot and give 1.0 experience. They use a bowl as the container. They cover Bass Stew, Buckling, Crispy Fried Perch, Fish Chorba, Halaszle, Halibut with Tartar Sauce, Jellyfish Jelly, Unlucky Fisher Chowder, Rollmops, Tuna Spaghetti, Unusual Fish Soup, Baked Pollock with Carrots and Aquaculture's turtle soup. For other bowl dishes in the pack, see Soups and Stews.
  • Crafted dishes. Shapeless crafting recipes make Catfish Barbecue (two per craft), Crispy Nori, Fish and Chips, Fried Perch Roll (two per craft), Fish Fillet Roll (two per craft), Large Fish with Vegetables and Turtle Meat Dish. For other rolls and sandwiches in the pack, see Sandwiches, Wraps and Rolls.
  • Smelted dish. The raw Turtle Meat Slice cooks into a Cooked Turtle Meat Slice by smelting, smoking or on a campfire. See the sea turtle section under Mechanics.
  • Cutting board fillets. Raw fish from Aquaculture and other mods turn into fillets on a cutting board. These fillets are the main ingredient in the fillet rolls. See Mechanics.

The highest-hunger foods are:

Food Hunger Saturation
Halibut with Tartar Sauce 14 0.5
Fish Chorba 13 0.9
Large Fish with Vegetables 13 0.6
Tuna Spaghetti 13 0.8
Turtle Meat Dish 13 0.7
Fish and Chips 12 1.0

The smallest foods are Turtle Meat Slice (1 hunger, 0.5 saturation), Cooked Turtle Meat Slice (3, 0.5), Crispy Fried Perch (3, 0.8) and Crispy Nori (4, 0.3). Crispy Fried Perch, both rolls, Catfish Barbecue, and both turtle slices stack to 64. All other foods stack to 16.

Crispy Roll Medley

The Crispy Roll Medley is a block with eight stages, numbered 0 to 7. It is crafted from three Aquaculture sushi, two Fish Fillet Rolls, two Fried Perch Rolls and a bowl. It is placed as a thin plate, with no collision, and it can be mined with an axe. Each right-click on the block takes one item out of it, as described under Mechanics.

Neptunium Knife

The Neptunium Knife is a sword-class item with its own tool tier. It has 1796 durability, a mining speed of 12.0 and an enchantability of 20. It is repaired with Aquaculture's Neptunium ingot. The knife's tooltip reads "Increases the amount of fillets you get on a cutting board". Its use is explained under Mechanics, and the matching fillet knives are on Fillet Knives and Fish Fillets. The knife counts as a knife for the recipes and drops that check the knife tag.

Mechanics

Cutting board fillets

Each cutting-board recipe takes one raw fish from a fillet tag and returns that many raw fish fillets. It has a 10% chance to give fish bones too. The yield depends on the fish:

  • one fillet: boulti, piranha, bluegill, synodontis, Atlantic herring, perch and minnow
  • two fillets: blackfish, carp, pink salmon, pollock, rainbow trout, smallmouth bass and brown trout
  • three fillets: red grouper, tambaqui and muskellunge
  • four fillets: bayad and gar
  • six fillets: Atlantic cod and catfish
  • ten fillets: arapaima, tuna and capitaine
  • twelve fillets: Pacific halibut
  • fourteen fillets: Atlantic halibut

Five higher-yield variants need a neptunium knife, either the Neptunium Knife from this mod or Aquaculture's neptunium fillet knife. They raise the yield for four, six, ten, twelve and fourteen fillet fish to five, seven, twelve, fifteen and seventeen fillets. Generic knives do not qualify for these variants.

Sea turtle drops

Killing an adult sea turtle with a knife in the main hand can drop turtle meat. The check runs for every sea turtle in every world with the mod. A knife is any item in the c:tools/knife or farmersdelight:tools/knives tag, so knives from other mods also count. Two independent 50% rolls are made per kill.

  • A Turtle Meat Slice drops (pickup delay 10 ticks) when the turtle is not on fire and the knife has no Fire Aspect.
  • A Cooked Turtle Meat Slice drops when the turtle was on fire or the knife has any level of Fire Aspect.

On average a kill gives about one slice. Baby sea turtles drop nothing.

Crispy Roll Medley unpacking

Each right-click on a medley drops one item and moves the block to the next stage. The item is spawned after a 2-tick pickup delay, and the block plays an armour equip sound. The stages give these items:

  • Stages 0 to 2: one random item from the Aquaculture sushi tag. In this pack that is Aquaculture sushi.
  • Stages 3 and 5: one Fried Perch Roll.
  • Stages 4 and 6: one Fish Fillet Roll.
  • Stage 7: one bowl. The block is then removed.

A full unpack gives three sushi, two Fish Fillet Rolls, two Fried Perch Rolls and one bowl, which matches the crafting recipe. If Aquaculture is missing, the sushi tag is empty and the unpack spawns empty stacks.

Breaking a medley does not return the rolls. The stage-0 block drops itself. Stages 1 to 6 drop nothing when broken. The block has a hardness of 0.7 and a blast resistance of 2.0.

Food effects

Most foods apply a status effect when eaten. The effects come from Farmer's Delight or from vanilla. The two Farmer's Delight effects, Nourishment and Comfort, are described on Comfort and Nourishment. Durations are given in seconds unless noted.

  • Nourishment (Farmer's Delight): Baked Pollock with Carrots 300, Halibut with Tartar Sauce 300, Buckling 120, Tuna Spaghetti 320, Large Fish with Vegetables 360, Turtle Meat Dish 180 and Rollmops 240.
  • Comfort (Farmer's Delight): Bass Stew 180, Fish and Chips 180, Halaszle 180, Jellyfish Jelly 120 and Unusual Fish Soup 180.
  • Vanilla: Catfish Barbecue gives Strength for 600 ticks. Crispy Nori gives Regeneration for 60 ticks. Fish and Chips gives Slowness for 100 ticks. Halaszle gives Luck for 2400 ticks. Unlucky Fisher Chowder gives Weakness for 200 ticks. Rollmops gives Conduit Power for 2400 ticks. Unusual Fish Soup gives Dolphin's Grace for 2400 ticks.
  • Poison: Jellyfish Jelly has a 2% chance to give Poison for 110 ticks.

Some tooltips show a shorter duration than the food gives. Tuna Spaghetti shows 2:00 but gives 320 seconds, Turtle Meat Dish shows 2:00 but gives 180 seconds, and Large Fish with Vegetables shows 5:00 but gives 360 seconds. The Jellyfish Jelly tooltip reads 3 seconds of Poison, but the effect lasts 5.5 seconds.

Changes to vanilla

The mod changes the base game in a few small ways.

  • Sea turtle drops. Vanilla sea turtles drop turtle meat when killed with a knife, as described under Mechanics.
  • Meat tags. Turtle slices join the minecraft:meat item tag. Vanilla uses that tag for feeding and taming, so turtle slices become valid food for the animals that accept meat.
  • Farmer's Delight meat tags. Turtle slices join the c:foods/raw_meat and c:foods/cooked_meat tags. Any recipe that uses those tags accepts them, including recipes from other mods.
  • Sword tag. The Neptunium Knife joins minecraft:swords. Mods that use that tag, such as sweeping or enchant-by-category mods, treat it as a sword.
  • Axe mining. The medley blocks join the minecraft:mineable/axe tag.
  • Recipes. Cutting-board recipes handle Aquaculture fish, algae, shrooma, goldfish, leech and turtle items. Driftwood can be cut into stripped oak log and tree bark.

No vanilla item, block, recipe or loot table is replaced. The mod has no mixins, configs or worldgen changes.

In Fear Nightfall

The pack adds one change for this mod. The Fish Chorba in the mod source gives a comfort effect that does not exist in the pack. The pack's change notes say Fish Chorba now gives Farmer's Delight Comfort, shown in the tooltip as 5:00. Without that patch, the dish gives no effect.

The mod has no config, horror-specific content, or chest and mob loot changes. The sea turtle drop is the only part of the mod that reacts to the world. Some dishes share names with dishes from other food mods, such as Fish and Chips, Rollmops, Halaszle and Bass Stew. Players who install another fish-food mod should check the recipes for duplicates.
