The Desert Oasis Village is a village type added by ChoiceTheorem's Overhauled Village. It is one of the 21 biome-themed village variants that mod places into the vanilla village structure set. Its build is a desert settlement with stalls, wells, trees and cactus patches, and it is the variant a player is most likely to meet in the sandier biomes of the Fear Nightfall pack. Its chests hold mostly food, desert crops and a few trade and map items.
The village is not a horror structure. Nothing about it is dangerous at night beyond the usual hostile mobs of the biome, and it places only passive animals of its own.
Generation
The village generates in the Overworld during the surface structure step. It is added to vanilla's minecraft:villages structure set in three sizes: small, medium and large. Each size has its own weight in that set (10, 4 and 1 out of a set total of 1026), so small villages are the most common and large villages the rarest. The placement uses a random-spread set with a spacing of 65 chunks and a separation of 15 chunks. The Fear Nightfall pack applies a sparse factor of 1.92 to the mod default of about 34 chunks, which gives the in-game spacing of 65 chunks. On a 26 km² sample no instance of this village appeared.
The village can generate in fifteen biomes, mostly arid and savanna biomes: Wasteland, Desert, Joshua Desert, Saguaro Desert, Lush Desert, Dryland, Outback, Lush Savanna, Sandstone Valley, Desert Oasis, Desert Canyon, Ancient Sands, Desert Spires and Granite Cliffs. Placement follows the game's desert village biome tag, so modded biomes that carry that tag can also receive the village.
Villages in the pack share the vanilla village set with several other sets, including Luki's Grand Capitals, Towns and Towers, Fortified Villages and other mods' villages. Each village type is weighted equally across the set, and the game picks among the types valid for the local biome. This means a desert village in a given spot may be a different type entirely, and the Desert Oasis Village never stacks on top of another village.
The Fear Nightfall pack has also thinned out non-horror structures. The pack places about three times fewer of them than the mods do at default spacing, so villages are less frequent than they would be in a stock modded world.
Layout
Every Desert Oasis Village starts from one town centre piece. A jigsaw then grows the village outward from that centre along a network of road pieces. The jigsaw depth sets the size: 4 for small villages, 5 for medium and 6 for large.
The village is built from several pools of pieces:
- Houses. There are ten house templates in three sizes: six small, two medium and two large. Houses are the most common pieces in the village.
- Decoration. About twenty decoration pieces include wells, wagons, stalls, a brazier, a picnic mat, a climatologist's tent, garbage heaps, a goddess statue and several tree and bush pieces.
- Roads. The road network has straight pieces, corners, T-junctions, a crossroad and a terminator piece that closes off the end of a road. The road pieces are used to connect the other pieces, and the terminator ends a branch.
- Jobsites. About sixty jobsite buildings give the village its workstations. These include a smith, a mason, a butcher, a farm, a bakery, an observatory, a temple and a tavern. Several of them, such as the pet shop, the jewellery shop and the Irons Jewelry shop, are added only when their mod is installed. A village in a world without those mods simply has fewer jobsites.
The structure uses a beard-thin terrain adaptation, so the village blends into the sand at its edges and does not flatten the whole ground.
Inhabitants
The village places four kinds of passive animal when it generates: chickens, cows, pigs and sheep. It places no hostile mobs and no bosses. The village has no spawner and no unique mob, so its only threats come from the open desert and the normal spawning of the biome.
Loot
The chests in the village draw from the vanilla village loot tables for each building type, and the pack adds its own chest items on top of them. The desert house, smith, cartographer and butcher chests are the most useful for a player.
- Desert house chests are the most reliable food source. Cactus and bread each appear with 81% chance, wheat with 79%, rice with 71% and tomato seeds with 65%.
- Smith chests are the best place for iron. Iron ingots appear with 31% chance, iron helmets with 16% and iron chestplates with 8%. The smith table also includes iron pickaxes, iron shovels and arrows.
- Cartographer chests hold the pack's magic and map items. Paper appears with 62% chance, an empty map with 49%, an arcane essence with 41% and a scroll with 41%. The rarest entries are a blank runestone (4%), a rotten spell book (1%) and an amulet of concentration (1%).
- Butcher chests hold raw meats, cooking items and an iron knife (34%). Emeralds appear with 13% chance.
The generated table below lists every chest and its entries with the exact chance for each.

Tips
- Use
/locate structure ctov:large/village_desert_oasis (or the medium or small id) to find the nearest instance of this village. Because the village is rare and spread across many biomes, it is often easier to search the largest desert areas on the map than to explore at random.
- Expect a different village if you search a desert and find a village that is not this one. The pack's shared village set makes other mods' desert villages just as likely in many spots.
- The smith and cartographer chests are the best loot in the village, so check those buildings first.
- The desert house chests are the most reliable source of food in the village, with cactus, bread and wheat appearing in most rolls.
