Grills and Coolers are two families of outdoor furniture block added by Refurbished Furniture. A grill is a tall, narrow block that cooks food on its top face, with charcoal as fuel. A cooler is a one-row storage container with a hinged lid. Each family has 16 blocks, one per dye colour, for 32 blocks in total. Grills cook food placed on them, using charcoal as fuel, and are an alternative to the Frying Pan for the same kind of food. Coolers store items in nine slots.
The mod adds no worldgen, loot, mob drops or villager trades for these blocks, so they do not appear in Fear Nightfall's horror structures or biomes. Crafting is their only source.
Obtaining
Grills and coolers are obtained only by crafting. They are not found in chests, dropped by mobs or sold by villagers.

Workbench · WorkbenchEvery grill and cooler is made at the Workbench (Refurbished Furniture), which needs power from an electricity network (see Electricity). A grill takes eight iron ingots and one dye. A cooler takes four planks of any type and two dyes. The white cooler uses two white dyes; each other colour uses one white dye and one dye of its own colour.
Grills and coolers can also be recoloured without the workbench. A dye placed with any grill (or any cooler) in a shapeless crafting-grid recipe produces the grill (or cooler) of that dye's colour. This works from any colour, so a red grill can be turned blue without first returning it to white.
Usage
Grill
The grill has a 14 by 14 pixel footprint and is 16 pixels tall. It is mined with a pickaxe, and requires at least a stone pickaxe. It has four cooking spaces, one for each quadrant of its top face. Right-clicking a quadrant with food places one item there. Only items with a grill or campfire cooking recipe are accepted. The mod has no grill recipes of its own, so the grill cooks whatever a vanilla Campfire cooks, as long as the pack's inheritCampfireRecipes setting is on (it is on by default and in this pack).
Players can add only charcoal as fuel. Right-clicking the top face with charcoal adds one piece to the first empty fuel slot, and the grill has nine fuel slots. The grill burns fuel one piece at a time, and each piece burns for its vanilla fuel burn time. Food cooks only while fuel is burning. When a piece runs out, the next one starts, and the grill's flame particles show that it is lit.
Each cooking space cooks for half the recipe's cooking time per side. A vanilla campfire recipe of 600 ticks, which covers raw beef, porkchop, chicken and potato, therefore takes 300 ticks (15 seconds) to cook the first side and another 300 ticks to cook the second. The food is half cooked and shows smoke after the first side. Right-clicking the top face of a half-cooked item with a Spatula flips it, which starts the second side. A spatula used on a fully cooked item removes it.
Removing food from a grill depends on its state:
- A half-cooked, unflipped item is returned raw.
- A fully cooked item, flipped and finished, becomes the cooked result. Removing it spawns the result into the world and gives the experience of the recipe, which is 0.35 for the cooked meat recipes. Experience is granted only for fully cooked items.
- An empty hand over a quadrant removes whatever is in it.
Hoppers and other item-moving blocks can use the grill. Coal and charcoal enter the fuel slots from any side. Food enters the cooking spaces from any side. Finished food can be pulled only from the underside of the grill. Breaking a grill drops everything it holds, including food and fuel.
Cooler
The cooler is 10 pixels tall with a 10 by 14 pixel footprint, rotated to face the placing player. It is mined with an axe. It holds nine item slots, one row. Right-clicking it opens its inventory and raises the lid, and closing it lowers the lid. Opening and closing each play a sound. The cooler has no preservation or temperature mechanic. It stores items the same way a chest does.
Items
The table below lists all 32 blocks. Every grill and cooler stacks to 64.
Tips
- Keep a spatula in your hotbar when cooking on a grill. Flipping food and removing finished food both use it.
- A hopper that feeds charcoal into a grill keeps it lit without manual refuelling, as long as the hopper has charcoal to move.
- A cooler holds only nine slots. Place several coolers together when you need more storage.
