Refurbished Furniture is MrCrayfish's Furniture Mod: Refurbished (version 1.0.22), a furniture and appliance mod for Minecraft 1.21.1 NeoForge. It adds about 445 block registrations and about 27 hand-registered items for furnishing a home: seating, tables, kitchens, bathrooms, storage, lighting and cooking appliances. It also adds a home power network, a mail system, a television, a computer and a set of crafting machines with their own recipe types.

Nearly every block is placed by the player. The mod has no worldgen, no biomes, no structures, no loot injection and no villager trades, and it adds no mobs apart from an invisible seat entity used for sitting. It has no horror-specific content of its own.

Overview

Most blocks come in one of two families. The first is wood variants: oak, spruce, birch, jungle, acacia, dark oak, crimson, warped, mangrove and cherry. The second is 16 dye colours. Kitchen cabinetry, kitchen drawers, kitchen sinks, kitchen storage cabinets, toilets, baths and basins come in 26 variants each (10 woods and 16 colours). The mod requires MrCrayfish Framework 0.13.10. Catalogue 1.10.2 is a runtime dependency in the NeoForge build. JEI, CraftTweaker, Farmer's Delight, Carry On and Backpacked are optional integrations. Ingredients for most crafting recipes are vanilla items, such as iron ingots, dyes, redstone, string, copper ingots and leather, but every output is a mod item. No vanilla recipe output is changed.

Seating, tables and decoration

Chairs, tables, desks, sofas and stools are placed as blocks. The mod sorts them into item tags for bedroom, kitchen, outdoors and bathroom use. See Furniture and Decoration for the pack's wider decoration options.

Electricity

The mod's power network is the core system and it is covered in Electricity. An Electricity Generator burns furnace-style fuel. Each unit of burn time becomes 16 power units by default. Machines that need power are linked to a generator with the Wrench. Each node takes up to 6 links, each generator takes up to 12, and one network holds up to 64 nodes. A link longer than 512 blocks is rejected. A generator powers machines within a box of radius 80 blocks by default.

Devices with no power stop working. The devices that use power are the workbench, freezer, microwave, stove, toaster, recycle bin, television, computer, doorbell, ceiling fan, ceiling light, lightswitch, range hood and generator. The Lightswitch toggles power for devices on its network. The Smart Home program on the computer toggles devices on the same network. The power network is self-contained and does not expose Forge Energy or other energy capabilities.

Wrench

The Wrench links devices to generators with a left or right click. While it is held, right-clicking a block does nothing and the block outline is hidden. Link state is synced to the client. The Wrench is tagged as a common wrench tool. Only the mod's own Wrench item has the right-click suppression.

Cooking and crafting appliances

Each appliance processes items through its own recipe type. The frying pan and the grill are flipped with a Spatula, and a dispenser can flip items with a Spatula too. A Knife on a cutting board slices items from a dispenser and loses durability with each cut. The grill and the frying pan fall back to vanilla campfire recipes when no mod recipe matches. This fallback is on by default.

The workbench crafts from a list of constructing recipes. It uses materials from its own inventory and from adjacent containers when its search-neighbours option is on. The option is on by default in code.

Recycle Bin

The Recycle Bin destroys up to 3 input items at a time. Each item takes 10 ticks by default. The bin gives 0.05 experience per item, with a cap of 5 levels by default. Items are consumed and do not become items. Players withdraw the experience from the bin's screen.

Mail system

A Mailbox is a placed block, and each player can place up to 16 by default. A Post Box addresses a mailbox by name or by @player and sends a package. Delivery runs on the server every tick. Each mailbox has a queue of 32 by default that feeds its inventory. The inventory has 1 row by default and can be set from 1 to 6 rows. Items with inventories, such as shulker boxes, are banned by default.

A Package holds items and a message. Right-clicking it opens it, and a dispenser pops out its contents.

The mail banned-items list is documented with registry ids, such as minecraft:water_bucket. The code compares it with translation keys instead, so entries written in the documented format never match. The list is empty by default, so no items are banned in practice.

Trampolines

Falling entities bounce on a trampoline and boats bounce too. The bounce height is the fall distance times 2, capped by the trampoline's shape. The config sets a ceiling of 8.0 blocks by default. A trampoline also boosts jumps. Each bounce resets fall distance, which in practice negates fall damage from a fall onto a trampoline. This is inferred from the code and has not been tested in play.

Ceiling fans

When a ceiling fan is powered, living entities in the box below its blades take 0.5 damage per server tick. The damage uses the mod's own damage type, which has an exhaustion value of 0.1. Its death message is "sliced to death by a ceiling fan". Vanilla invulnerability frames limit how often a player actually takes the damage. The fan's spin speed is capped by a client option, 50 by default.

Water and fluids

The kitchen sink holds 3 buckets, the bath holds 10, the basin holds 1 and the toilet holds 1 by default. Right-clicking one with a water source fills its tank, and this is on by default for all four. A kitchen sink that holds a full bucket of lava turns a water click into an obsidian drop. Baths, sinks, basins and toilets expose fluid handlers, and the freezer, the stove and the recycle bin expose item handlers.

Seating

Chairs, sofas, stools, toilets and plates use an invisible seat entity to hold the player. Plates can only be eaten from while the player sits.

Television and computer

The television has 12 channels, including white noise, a colour test, dance music and a blocky game. The Television Remote changes the channel. A thunderstorm can cause signal loss, and this is on by default. The computer has four programs. Paddle Ball is a pong-style game against the AI or another player on a server. Smart Home is the power control described above. Marketplace and Coin Miner are stubs that show "Coming Soon!".

Doorbell and door mat

A doorbell plays a chime and sends a notification to players. The notification is a client option and is on by default. A door mat is a 14 by 10 pixel canvas painted in a fixed palette. A copy recipe duplicates the art, and a water cauldron removes the art, one use at a time.

Changes to vanilla

Most of the mod's changes are limited to its own items. The changes that affect the base game are these:

  • The mod enables NeoForge's milk fluid for the whole game, so milk is treated as a fluid in every mod and not only in this one.
  • The Spatula, the Knife and the Package each have a dispenser behaviour, and these apply only to the mod's own items.
  • A cauldron can remove the door mat's art, and this applies only to the door mat.
  • The lattice fences and lattice fence gates are added to the fence and fence gate tags. The stepping stones are added to the step sound tag.
  • Left-clicking a storage jar that holds items pops out one item and cancels the attack, so the jar cannot be broken while it holds items. The same applies to a cutting board that holds an item.
  • Trampolines and ceiling fans change how falls and damage work, as described above.
  • The mod has no effect on hunger, XP progression, sleeping, redstone or inventory rules. XP is only granted by the Recycle Bin. Ceiling fan damage is the only combat change.

The mod's creative tab shows a filter for its items. While the filter is active, it takes over the mouse scroll on the creative screen.

In Fear Nightfall

The pack records no changes to this mod, so the values in this article are the mod's own defaults. The mod has no worldgen, no biomes and no structures, so its items do not appear in pack structures or chests. Loot is covered in Loot and Chests. The mod has no night-specific or horror-specific content, and its only damaging feature is the ceiling fan.

The pack's other mods overlap with this one. Handcrafted covers similar chairs, tables, sofas, kitchens and bathrooms, including Kitchen Counters and Cabinets and Benches, Couches and Sofas. Players will see duplicated kinds of blocks in both mods. Other parts of the pack also interact with this mod:

  • Carry On blacklists the fridges, freezers and baths, so they cannot be picked up with Carry On. Other blocks in the mod can be picked up.
  • The stove counts as a heat source for Farmer's Delight. According to the mod's documentation, it heats Cooking Pot and Skillet only through this tag.
  • The storage cabinets are the unlock for a backpack challenge in the mod's datapack. The challenge has no effect unless Backpacked is installed.
