Handcrafted is a furniture and decoration mod for NeoForge 1.21.1, added to Fear Nightfall as a content mod. It adds 267 blocks and 18 non-block items, mostly wooden furniture in the eleven vanilla wood types, plus stone trims, mob trophies, crockery, pots, a smoker-based oven, dyeable cushions and sheets, and a hammer that changes how some blocks look. Players use it to furnish houses, bases and horror-themed interiors. It adds no mobs, biomes, structures or dimensions, so its content appears only in the player's own builds and crafting.
Overview
Handcrafted is a content add-on rather than an overhaul. It adds blocks and recipes, a small set of custom entities for seating and paintings, and a client-side model fix. It does not change worldgen, mob spawning, villager trades, enchantments, combat or game rules. Its recipes use vanilla materials such as planks, slabs, stone types, wool, dyes, iron bars and glazed terracotta, so most of its furniture can be crafted from what a player already gathers. For the wider set of furniture and decoration in the pack, see Furniture and Decoration.
Its blocks come in three broad groups: wood furniture in each vanilla wood type, decorative stone and metal pieces, and tableware and kitchen items. Items other than blocks are the Hammer, the Fancy Painting and sixteen dyed sheets.
Content
Wooden furniture
Each of the eleven wood types (acacia, bamboo, birch, cherry, crimson, dark oak, jungle, mangrove, oak, spruce and warped) has fifteen blocks: a bench, chair, couch, dining bench, side table, table, desk, nightstand, fancy bed, counter, cupboard, drawer, shelf, corner trim and pillar trim. Seating is covered in Chairs and Stools, Benches, Couches and Sofas and Tables. Storage pieces are covered in Kitchen Counters and Cabinets, Desks, Drawers and Nightstands and Shelves (Handcrafted). Trims are covered in Trims. The Fancy Beds page covers the two-part bed blocks.
Metal, stone and colour
Two metal benches (a plain and a frozen variant) copy iron block properties and can be sat on. Stone trims exist for andesite, blackstone, bricks, calcite, deepslate, diorite, dripstone, granite, quartz, stone, sandstone and red sandstone. Cushions and Sheets are the sixteen dye colours of sittable cushion blocks and matching sheet items.
Tableware, pots and trophies
Crockery comes in cups, plates, bowls and combo pieces for wood, terracotta, white, yellow and blue. Decorative Pots are sixteen pots in four sizes and four families. Mob Trophies are nineteen wall, hanging and statue pieces based on mobs such as the creeper, skeleton, wither skeleton and phantom.
Kitchen and small items
The oven is a functional block that smelts with the smoking recipe type. The kitchen hood and its pipe are decorative. The Berry Jam Jar and the stackable book are small decorative items.
Mechanics
Sitting. Right-clicking a seat or cushion block places the player on an invisible seat entity at that block. The player dismounts by moving off the block, and the seat is removed when the block stops being sittable or the last rider leaves. Chairs, benches and couches limit the rider's turning to 105 degrees of the seat's facing. Cushion seats turn freely.
Hammer. The Hammer is a tool with a stack size of 1 that changes the look or shape of supported blocks when used on them. Cupboards, drawers, shelves and counters cycle their type. Kitchen hood pipes toggle their corner state and facing. Corner and pillar trims cycle their shape. Wood blocks and stone blocks play different hammer sounds.
Storage furniture. Counters, cupboards, drawers, shelves, nightstands, desks and side tables each hold 27 items in a three-row chest menu. Their contents drop when the block is broken. Each emits an analog redstone signal equal to how full its inventory is, using the vanilla container signal. Their recipes need a chest from the #handcrafted:chests tag, which is the vanilla Chest plus any chest items from the common chest tag. Seventy-seven recipes use this tag.
Colour and material layering. Right-clicking a cushion or sheet on a block applies that colour. Applying a new layer returns the old item, and shift-right-clicking removes the layer. Counters take planks or the stone blocks in the counter-material tag as their top surface, and shift-right-clicking resets it to calcite.
Oven. The oven is a subclass of the vanilla Smoker and uses the vanilla smoker menu. Any vanilla smoking recipe works in it. Fuel burns for half the vanilla smoker duration.
Crockery combo. A combo piece holds one item. Right-clicking with an item places a copy on the plate, and an empty-handed right-click or breaking the block returns the item.
Berry jam jars and books. Berry jam jars stack up to three per block. A stack accepts another jar of the same type only when the player is not sneaking.
Fancy Painting. The Fancy Painting item places a custom painting entity that picks one of 28 variants that fit the wall, preferring the largest variants that fit. Breaking it drops a Fancy Painting item rather than a vanilla Painting.
Table connections. The non-storage table adds connection arms toward neighbouring blocks in the table-connectable tag, which includes the table family. The connection is visual only.
Changes to vanilla
- The mod's mixin changes the model loader on the client for all block models, including vanilla and resource-pack models. It removes the vanilla limits on block element angles and coordinates. This is client-only.
- The axe tag gains the wood furniture and wood trims, and thirteen trophies. The pickaxe tag gains the stone trims, metal benches, pots, trophies, crockery, the kitchen hood and pipe, the oven and berry jam jars.
- The vanilla
minecraft:bedstag gains all eleven fancy beds, so any system that reads that tag sees them. - The
c:dyedtags gain each cushion block and sheet item. - Thirty-two dye-to-cushion and dye-to-sheet recipes sit in the vanilla
minecraftnamespace. They output Handcrafted items and do not replace vanilla recipes. - Storage furniture emits comparator signals, as vanilla containers do.
- Several wood furniture blocks do not conduct redstone power, unlike vanilla planks.
In Fear Nightfall
Handcrafted runs with its default settings. It has no configuration file, and the pack's change notes record no changes to its content. The pack's change notes only record that a suspected conflict with Carry On was checked and not found.
The mod does not add loot to structure chests, so none of its furniture appears in the pack's Loot and Chests tables. Its items reach players through crafting and creative play. Its seats and storage furniture are not tied to time of day or to the horror biomes, so they work the same at night and in every biome.
