Fancy Beds are a family of eleven two-part bed blocks added by Handcrafted, one for each vanilla wood type: Acacia, Bamboo, Birch, Cherry, Crimson, Dark Oak, Jungle, Mangrove, Oak, Spruce and Warped. Each one is a decorative alternative to the vanilla bed that is built from planks and wool, and can be dyed. A fancy bed sleeps the same way as a vanilla bed, so it works for skipping the night and setting a respawn point, but it looks like wooden furniture. Each bed is mineable with an axe.

A fancy bed takes two colour layers. The sheet sits on the foot half and the cushion (the pillow) sits on the head half. Both are dyed items from Cushions and Sheets.

Obtaining

Fancy beds are only available by crafting. The pack and the mod add no natural generation, chest loot, mob drops or villager and wandering trader trades for them. Each fancy bed is a single item, and breaking one drops that item back.

Crafting

Every fancy bed uses the same pattern of ingredients, with only the planks changing for each wood type. The recipe needs one cushion, one sheet, four planks of the matching wood type and two wool. The cushion and sheet slots accept any of the 16 dye colours, and the wool slots accept any wool. The recipes are shown below.

Usage

A fancy bed is placed like a vanilla bed. It occupies two blocks, a foot and a head, and the two halves face the same direction. Right-clicking the bed to sleep follows the vanilla bed logic. The mod does not change how sleeping works.

The bed's colour is set by right-clicking its halves with dyed items:

• Right-clicking the foot with a sheet sets the sheet colour.
• Right-clicking the head with a cushion sets the cushion colour.
• Placing a new item on a coloured half returns the old item. The item is dropped unless the player is in creative mode.
• Shift-right-clicking a coloured half removes that layer and drops the item.

A newly placed bed is white. Breaking a coloured bed drops the layer from each half, so breaking the bed returns both its sheet and its cushion. A white layer drops nothing.

Adjacent fancy beds join visually. The bed's shape changes depending on whether a neighbouring fancy bed is placed beside it, so a row of beds reads as a single piece of furniture.

The Hammer (Handcrafted) does not affect fancy beds. It only changes the shape or look of cupboards, drawers, shelves, counters and trims.
