Book Stacks are two decorative block types that stack books in the world. The Bookstack is added by Beautify and the Stackable Book is added by Handcrafted. Both are made from vanilla books and both stack to 64 as items. The Bookstack also counts toward enchanting power, which makes it useful for building enchanting setups in Fear Nightfall.

Obtaining

Both block types are made by crafting from vanilla books.

Usage

Bookstack

The Bookstack is a horizontal directional block with 7 models. Its collision shape changes with the model: models 0 and 1 are 4 pixels tall, model 2 is 1.5 pixels, model 3 is 9.5 pixels, model 4 is 5 pixels, model 5 is 7.25 pixels and model 6 is 12 pixels tall. On placement, the model is chosen at random and the block faces away from the placing player. Shift and right-click cycles through the models in order and wraps back to model 0 after model 6, playing a page-turn sound each time. A plain right-click does nothing.

A Bookstack must rest on a solid block below it. If that support is removed, it is destroyed on the next tick and drops itself. When it lands from a fall, it plays a dedicated landing sound.

Each Bookstack adds 1.0 enchanting power to an enchanting table, the same as a bookshelf. Mods that count bookshelves by block tag or class may not count Bookstacks.

Stackable Book

The Stackable Book is a decorative block with 1 to 4 books. Its collision height rises with the book count: 4 pixels for one book, 8 pixels for two, 12 pixels for three and 16 pixels for four. Mobs do not path through it.

Right-clicking a Stackable Book with another Stackable Book adds a book to the stack, up to 4, as long as the player is not sneaking. A new block placed in an empty space gets a random facing and a random visual seed, both derived from the block's position, so the same position always looks the same. The block does not require support and has no interaction beyond stacking.

Items

• Bookstack: a single block with 7 models. Cycled with shift and right-click. Adds enchanting power.
