The Storage Cabinets, Crates and Jars are three kinds of storage block added by Refurbished Furniture. Each comes in ten wood types (oak, spruce, birch, jungle, acacia, dark oak, mangrove, cherry, crimson and warped), for 30 blocks in total. Crates and storage cabinets are containers with 27 slots each. Storage jars hold up to 18 items of a single type. All three are part of the mod's storage category and sit alongside its other furniture (see Refurbished Furniture).

The blocks are not found in the world. Fear Nightfall does not change this: the mod adds no worldgen, loot or villager trades for them, and none of the pack's changes place them in structure chests. Every one must be crafted.

Obtaining

The blocks are crafted at a workbench. Each recipe uses planks of the matching wood type. The recipe grids are listed below.

The workbench needs power from an electricity network (see Electricity). It crafts from materials in its own inventory and from adjacent containers, such as a crate or storage cabinet, when its neighbour-container option is enabled. The workbench is described on its own page.

No mob drops or villager trades include them.

Usage

Crates

A crate is a 27-slot container (three rows) that opens when the player right-clicks any of its faces. Its lid opens while a player is viewing the inventory and closes when the last viewer leaves, with a barrel sound on each change. Breaking a crate drops its contents. A crate is mined with an axe, with a hardness of 2.5 and a blast resistance of 2.5.

Storage cabinets

A storage cabinet is a 27-slot container (three rows) with a door on its front face. The front is the face opposite the direction the block faces, so right-clicking the front opens the inventory. Right-clicking the other faces does nothing. When the block is placed, the hinge side (left or right) is chosen from the point of the click, which decides which side the door swings toward. The door opens while the inventory is in use and closes afterward, with its own open and close sounds. Breaking a cabinet drops its contents. It is mined with an axe, with the same hardness and blast resistance as the crate.

A Backpacked challenge also references the storage cabinet. Backpacked is not installed in Fear Nightfall, so the reference has no effect.

Storage jars

A storage jar has no inventory screen. It stores one item type at a time, up to 18 items, and each stack is limited to one item per slot.

  • Right-clicking the jar while holding an item adds one copy of it. The first item added sets the type, and only that item can be added afterward.
  • Right-clicking with an empty hand does nothing.
  • Left-clicking the jar without crouching removes the most recently added item and drops it in front of the jar. The attack is cancelled, so a jar holding items cannot be broken.

The jar is mined with a pickaxe, with a hardness of 1 and a blast resistance of 1. It can be broken only once it is empty.

Items

The ten wood types behave the same way. Only the planks and the crafting recipe differ between them.
