Trampolines are a set of 16 bouncy blocks added by Refurbished Furniture, one for each dye colour. They are cheap, stack to 64 and mine with a stone pickaxe. Falling entities bounce off them instead of taking fall damage, and a jump from the surface is boosted. They are tagged as outdoor furniture. Carry On can pick them up, as the mod's blacklist entries do not include them.

Obtaining

Each colour is made by crafting, so a player needs dyes, iron, string and slimeballs. The white trampoline is the base of the colour set, and the other colours can be made from it with a dye.

Crafting

Two routes make each colour. The first is a workbench recipe that uses 4 iron ingots, 8 string, one dye of the target colour and one slimeball to produce one trampoline. The second is a shapeless crafting-grid recolour: one dye of the target colour and one white trampoline produce one trampoline of that colour. The recipes are listed below.

Usage

Trampolines are placed like other blocks and connect to any neighbouring trampoline, whatever its colour. The connection changes the model and the bounce strength, and in some layouts corner legs are drawn. The collision box covers only the top pad, which sits from 10/16 to 13/16 of a block in height. The legs are visual only.

Bounce mechanics

When an entity lands on a trampoline while moving downward, the block launches it upward. Its bounce height is twice the fall distance, capped by a value that depends on the shape of the trampoline. The cap is the server config value maxBounceHeight (default 8.0, range 0 to 64) multiplied by a shape scale and by 0.75, less 0.25. With the default config this gives caps of about 2.15 for scale 0.4, about 4.55 for scale 0.8 and about 5.75 for scale 1.0.

Each bounce also multiplies the entity's horizontal motion by 1.5, so a sideways landing sends the entity further. The landing resets the fall distance and does not call the default landing handler, so landing on a trampoline causes no fall damage. An entity that suppresses bounce (in vanilla, a sneaking entity) does not bounce and takes no damage from the landing either. The bounce plays a bounce sound and a bounce particle.

Boats bounce too. A boat that lands on a trampoline at a downward speed above 0.1 has its vertical velocity reversed, and this is not limited by the bounce height cap.

Shape and bounce scale

The bounce scale depends on how the trampoline connects to its neighbours.

Layout Bounce scale
Isolated, single neighbour or straight line 0.4
Corner or three-neighbour layout 0.8
Connected on all four sides 1.0
Some layouts with corner legs 0.4 or 0.8, depending on the legs

A trampoline in the middle of a larger block of trampolines therefore gives the highest bounce. A lone trampoline gives the lowest.

Jumping

A living entity that jumps from a trampoline gets a jump boost. The boost is set by the same bounce scale: at the default config the jump factor is about 1.9 for scale 0.4, about 2.7 for scale 0.8 and about 3.1 for scale 1.0, in place of the usual block jump factor of 1.0. A jump from a trampoline also plays a super bounce sound and particle.

Items

Each colour is a separate block and item. All 16 colours have the same stats: hardness 2.5, blast resistance 2.5, and a stack size of 64. They share the item tags for trampolines and outdoor furniture.
