Advancements
Advancements in Fear Nightfall are the achievement tree that the pack's mods add on top of vanilla. About 410 modded advancements exist, not counting recipe unlocks, and the advancement screen shows them as one tab per mod. Most mods track one kind of progress: finding their structures, opening their containers, collecting their plants or fish, or defeating their bosses. Some advancements also unlock rewards that exist nowhere else, such as the Centennial Trophy from Lootr, so a player who skips a mod's tab can miss content.
Each mod's own page describes its advancements in full, with their criteria and rewards. This page gives the overview: how many each mod adds, what its advancements are called, and what the pack changed.
Counts and frames
Of the modded advancements, 272 use the task frame, 54 the goal frame and 59 the challenge frame. The remainder have no frame. 43 are hidden, which means they stay off the advancement screen until they are earned.
The vanilla advancement tree is not reproduced here. Some vanilla advancements count modded content: the vanilla "Fishy Business" advancement, for example, also counts Tide fish (see Tide Fishing).

Pack changes
Fear Nightfall fixed three broken advancement setups:
- Hexerei shipped a recipe-book root advancement that pointed at itself, which orphaned every recipe advancement. The pack restored the vanilla root. See Hexerei.
- Jaden's Nether Expansion had one advancement with a broken parent, which the pack fixed.
- Dungeons and Taverns had a broken advancement parent that stopped its quest-trader and wandering-trader-map features from ever firing. The pack fixed the parent. Trading with a Tavern Cartographer unlocks a quest map, and the advancement for this is "Call for Adventure". See Dungeons and Taverns.
For the wider list of gameplay changes, see Changes to Vanilla.
Bosses and mini-bosses
Several of the pack's bosses are tied to advancements. The bosses and mini-bosses of Born in Chaos include the Bonescaller, Supreme Bonescaller, Krampus, Lord Pumpkinhead and Mother Spider, and several of them are named by that mod's advancements. The Acolyte has its own advancement, "Turning the tables", which is earned by killing one with a Bone Dagger.
The Bosses page covers the bosses themselves, and Horror and Spooky Content covers the dangers that surround them.
Tips
- Check the mod tabs before looking for a reward. Many advancements are earned by finding a structure type or a biome, not by killing anything.
- Lootr's container advancements unlock at 10, 25, 50 and 100 opened containers. The Centennial advancement requires the 100th, and it grants the Centennial Trophy. See Lootr.
- The "Professional Dungeoneer" advancement of Better Dungeons requires all five dungeon types.
