Urns and Vases is the page for the pottery-style containers and decorations that three mods in Fear Nightfall add. The Graveyard adds 32 glazed and terracotta urns (16 large and 16 small, one per dye colour) and a stackable vase called Ceramics. Supplementaries adds a single breakable Urn that generates underground in the overworld and sometimes releases a critter. Sons of Sins adds an Urn that stores Ether Ashes, the material used by its blood and ether systems. The three urns share a display name but work differently, and each is described in its own section below.
Obtaining
Natural generation
Supplementaries places Urns as decorative patches underground in overworld biomes. Each chunk makes six patch attempts between 16 and 96 blocks above the bottom of the world, below sea level and below the motion-blocking and ocean-floor heightmaps. Each patch tries nine positions within 4 blocks horizontally and 1 block vertically, and an Urn is placed only where the space is air and the block below has a solid top face. These urns are generated as treasure urns (see Urns and Vases). The option that controls this, cave_urns, is enabled by default and requires a world reload to change.
In Fear Nightfall, Graveyard structures are placed about 30% closer together and are weighted 6× where they share a structure set with other mods, which makes Graveyard decor more common in horror terrain.
Crafting
Each Graveyard urn is crafted from eight blocks of its colour in a ring around an empty centre. The large glazed urns use eight glazed terracotta. The small urns use eight plain terracotta. The black large urn has a second recipe that uses bone, corruption and dark iron ingots.
The Sons of Sins Urn is crafted from four bricks around a single Ether Ashes. Supplementaries Urns and Ceramics have no crafting recipe.
Loot and drops
Ceramics appear as chest loot in the Graveyard's crypts. The crypt_loot table gives a Ceramics stack in 13.0% of crypt chests, with an average of 1.0 item. The great_crypt_loot table gives one in 9.7% of chests in crypts and dead trees, with an average of 1.8 items.
| Item | Chest loot table | Structures | Chance per chest | Avg. stack |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Ceramics | graveyard:chests/crypt_loot | Crypt | 13.0% | 1.0 |
Ceramics | graveyard:chests/great_crypt_loot | Crypt, Dead Tree | 9.7% | 1.8 |
Graveyard urns are containers, so breaking one drops its contents. Supplementaries Urns drop their loot as described in Urns and Vases. Sons of Sins Urns drop their contents when a player breaks them, as described in Urns and Vases.
Usage
Graveyard urns and Ceramics
A Graveyard urn is an inventory block with 54 slots arranged in six rows, the same size as a double chest. Right-clicking opens it, plays an opening sound, and sets its open state. Its contents are dropped when it is destroyed, and a comparator reads a redstone signal from the urn based on how full it is. The large urn is a full block tall, while the small urn is 10/16 of a block tall. A configuration option can give large urns a double-chest inventory.
Ceramics is instantly broken, has no collision, and can hold up to four pieces in one block space. Placing another Ceramics onto an existing one adds a piece and raises the shape of the stack. A Ceramics needs a solid block below it. Both Graveyard urns and Ceramics can be waterlogged.
In Fear Nightfall, Lootr does not make Graveyard urns per-player. They are shared containers, first come first served.
Supplementaries urns
A Supplementaries Urn is a falling block. If the block below it is removed, it falls. A falling urn deals 1 damage per block it falls, to a maximum of 20 damage. It shatters when it lands at speed or when it is struck, dropping its contents and the urn itself. A projectile that hits an Urn breaks it. The Urn has a hardness of 0.1 and no blast resistance.
Urns are either treasure urns or placed urns. A treasure urn has no storage. Breaking it rolls a loot table weighted 60, 32, 7 and 1 for common, uncommon, rare and epic loot respectively, out of 100. Silk Touch gives the Urn item itself, but the treasure loot roll still applies, because it is a separate pool. Cave urns generated by the mod are treasure urns.
A placed Urn holds one item for display. When it is empty, right-clicking it with an item puts that item inside.
When a treasure urn is broken and the doTileDrops game rule is on, it may release a critter. The chance is 1%, set by the critter_spawn_chance option. The critter is chosen at random from the urn_spawn entity tag, which contains silverfish, slime and bat. Slimes spawn at size 0. Tools that prevent infested spawns, which includes Silk Touch in vanilla, do not trigger this.
Sons of Sins urns
The Sons of Sins Urn has two forms: an item and a block. Right-clicking a block with the item places an Urn block, and the nine inventory slots of the item move into the block. Breaking the block with a player's tool returns the item with its contents. The block has a hardness of 0.4 and a blast resistance of 2, and its loot table yields nothing, so the item comes only from the player-break event. The Urn item is not stackable. Its tooltip shows how many Ether Ashes it holds.
The Urn stores Ether Ashes, which are produced by killing mobs with Osseous or Sinful tools. Each kill yields a count equal to 10% of the victim's maximum health, rounded up. Urn-held ashes power several effects. Ether Sword hits have a 30% chance to use them, the Puppet of Strife needs them or an Ether Engine in the inventory, and the Shape-Shifting Tool checks them when it breaks a block. See Blood Pools, Slicing and Ether Ashes for how ashes are made and used, and Ether for the item itself.

Ceramics and the glazed and terracotta urns are the Graveyard's decorative containers. The Supplementaries Urn is a breakable block with loot and a critter drop. The Sons of Sins Urn is the item and block that store Ether Ashes. The table below lists every item and block in this family.
