Dark Iron is a family of five building and crafting items added by The Graveyard: an ingot, a block of nine ingots, bars, a door and a trapdoor. The ingot is the mod's main metal and is an ingredient in more than fifty recipes, including coffins, urns and fire braziers, so most players need it to build the mod's decor.

Each dark iron ingot is made from one Corruption and one iron ingot. Corruption is a currency-like item used by the Nameless Hanged, so the metal is unavailable until a player has gathered Corruption from the mod's mobs.

Obtaining

Dark iron is obtained by crafting or from chest loot. No mob drops dark iron directly. Graveyard mobs drop Corruption instead: the Acolyte, Corrupted Pillager and Corrupted Vindicator drop one each, the Nightmare drops one to three, and the Ghoul, Revenant, Reaper and Skeleton Creeper drop zero or one. The Looting enchantment can increase these counts.

The ingot recipe is shapeless and is made in a crafting table. Nine ingots combine into one dark iron block, and a block unpacks back into nine ingots. The bars, door and trapdoor are crafted from ingots. The recipe grids are listed below.

Dark iron also appears in chest loot. Dark iron ingots are found in crypts, the large graveyard structure and the dead tree structure. Dark iron blocks are rarer and appear only in the crypt and great crypt loot tables. The Fear Nightfall pack places Graveyard structures about 30 percent closer together than in the original mod, and gives them six times the weight where they share a structure set with other mods' structures, so crypts and graveyards are more common in the pack than in the mod on its own.

Usage

The dark iron ingot is the mod's general-purpose metal. It is used in coffin recipes, where it is combined with planks of each wood type, in black glazed urn recipes, and in fire and soul braziers. Coffins can be equipped on a Ghouling, so the coffin recipes tie the metal into the Ghouling system. The full list of recipes is shown below.

Dark iron bars behave like vanilla iron bars. They connect to adjacent bars and solid blocks, and they are far weaker than the other pieces (see the table below). The dark iron door and trapdoor use the vanilla iron block set, so like vanilla iron doors and trapdoors they cannot be opened by hand and must be opened by redstone power. They require a pickaxe to harvest, as does the dark iron block.

Items

Dark Iron Ingot is the crafting material for most of the set. Dark Iron Block stores nine ingots in one item. Dark Iron Bars, Dark Iron Door and Dark Iron Trapdoor are decorative iron pieces that take the vanilla iron behaviours described above.
