The Bone Decorations are a set of 21 decorative blocks added by The Graveyard. Each one is a bone display: a skull with a rib cage, a skeleton lying, leaning or hanging, a pile of skulls or torso bones, a skull on a pike, or a skeleton hand. Most come in a regular and a Wither variant, and the set also includes the Defeated Skeleton and Defeated Wither Skeleton remains. They are built from vanilla bone blocks and are used to dress graveyards, crypts and player builds.

They have no function of their own. They cannot store items, do not change how mobs behave and are not used in any other recipe. They are worth making for the decor alone: they are cheap to carve, need no special tool and stack to 64.

Obtaining

Crafting

Every bone decoration is carved from one vanilla bone block in an Ossuary. The ossuary's screen lists the carving recipes, and each carve consumes one bone block and yields one decoration. The recipes are listed below.

Loot and drops

Six bone decorations generate in the chests of the Crypt structure, which lies underground between Y −40 and Y −10. They come from the same urn loot table, and the chance per chest for each is listed in the table below. The other fifteen blocks are not in any chest and must be carved.

Breaking

All bone decorations have a hardness of 0, so they break instantly by hand and no tool is needed. Breaking one without Silk Touch drops four bones. With Silk Touch the block itself drops. A block destroyed by an explosion drops the bones only if it survives the explosion's roll, so explosions usually leave nothing behind.

Usage

The blocks are decorative and have no interaction. Right-clicking them does nothing.

  • Collision: the blocks have no collision box. Players and mobs walk through them, so they can be placed in walkways or on the floor of a room without blocking movement.
  • Light: the blocks let skylight pass straight down through them, so placing one does not shade the blocks below it.
  • Placement: each block takes one of four horizontal facings. When placed, it faces the player who places it.
  • Water: the blocks can be waterlogged. Placed into a water source, a block stays in the water, so bone displays can decorate underwater graveyards and wells.
  • Sound: the blocks use the bone block sound when placed or broken.

In Fear Nightfall, the horror structures of The Graveyard, including the Crypt, are placed about 30% closer together than in the mod's default settings, so crypts are more frequent in the pack's worlds.

Items

The table below lists every bone decoration with its stack size and hardness. The Creeper Skeleton is part of the same set, with the same carving recipe and the same break behaviour as the others.
