The Lich Prison is a floating stone structure added by The Graveyard. It is the only structure in that mod that generates in the air, an island of deepslate and grass hovering above the ocean. The structure contains the altar where the Corrupted Champion is summoned, so a player has to find it before the boss can be fought.
The structure holds no mobs and no chests. Its value to a player is the altar, the boss summoning point and the "Cursed Island" advancement, which is granted on entering it.
Generation
The Lich Prison generates in the Overworld, and only in these ocean biomes:
It is placed on a random-spread grid with an in-game spacing of 84 chunks, which is the value shown in the infobox. The pack's world-generation changes place horror structures about 30% closer together than the mod's defaults, so this structure is more common than in the unmodified mod. Observed counts in the pack's world were about 2 Lich Prisons per 26 square kilometres. The structure has its own structure set, so no other structure shares its placement or weight.
Unlike most structures of The Graveyard, the Lich Prison does not follow the ground. Its start height is fixed at y 210, about 150 blocks above the default sea level (y 63). The mod skips its usual terrain check for it, so it can float over open water. The template is 48 blocks on each side.
Its template is built from deepslate and grass, dirt, moss and fern blocks, so it reads as a patch of ground rather than a building.
Layout
The Lich Prison is a single pre-built piece. Its template pool has one element and no jigsaw branches, so every Lich Prison has the same layout. The main features are:
- The altar. A central altar block is surrounded by corrupted deepslate side, corner and centre blocks, forming a multiblock. The Corrupted Champion is summoned at an altar block (see Corruption, Vial of Blood and Summoning the Lich).
- Building materials. Deepslate walls, stairs, slabs and brick variants, with cracked deepslate tiles, chiseled deepslate and smooth quartz stairs and slabs. Black stained glass, iron bars, dark iron bars and dark iron trapdoors are also used, and chains appear in the template.
- Bone decoration. Bone blocks, a skull with a rib cage, a laterally lying skeleton, a leaning skeleton, a torso pile and a skull pile. These are decorative blocks, not mobs.
- Lighting. Soul lanterns and sea lanterns, eight white candles and glow lichen.
- Mechanisms. A lever, one sticky piston with its piston head, and two ladders. Their function was not traced in the mod's code.
- Lecterns. Two lecterns, one of them holding a writable book.
The template has no spawners and no chests or other containers.
Inhabitants
The Lich Prison places no mobs and has no spawners. The Corrupted Champion is not present when the structure generates. The player summons it at the altar at night, and the boss's spawn subtitle, "Corrupted Champion escapes its prison", plays at that moment. Full boss behaviour is described on the Lich page.
Loot
The template has no chests, barrels or other containers, so the structure generates no chest loot. The structure's reward is the advancement "Cursed Island", granted when a player enters the structure. The generated table below lists the structure's loot data.
Biomes (5): Ocean, Lukewarm Ocean, Deep Ocean, Deep Lukewarm Ocean, Warm Ocean
Tips
- The summoning ritual needs night, the three bone staff fragments and a full Vial of Blood. Collect the fragments and fill the vial before traveling to the structure, because the summoning cannot be completed without all of them.
- The three fragments come from the three variants of Graveyard Ruins in forests: the broken tower (upper fragment), the bloody hill (middle fragment) and the campsite (lower fragment). The vial is filled by killing villagers with a bone dagger while holding a glass bottle in the offhand.
- The structure is about 150 blocks above sea level. Plan the route to it before dark, because the altar only works at night.
- At the altar, place the upper, middle and lower bone staff fragments in that order on the dark corrupted deepslate blocks in front of it. Then pour the full vial into the altar.
- The altar's blood is used up by a summoning (the altar stops reporting that it is bloody afterwards), so prepare everything before starting the ritual.
