Mounts and Transportation
Mounts and Transportation covers the ways to travel faster than walking, sailing or riding a vanilla horse in Fear Nightfall. The pack adds flying brooms, rideable hostile and tamed creatures, grappling and bouncing aids, teleportation and armed boats, drawn from several mods. Most of these are tied to the pack's horror content: the mounts come from bosses, hostile mobs and horror structures, and several of them are dangerous to meet before they are tamed.
Travel options fall into four groups: flying and riding mounts, mobile vehicles, movement tools, and teleportation. Each group is summarised below, with the full details on the linked pages.
Flying and riding mounts
Hexerei adds the Brooms, flying vehicles with a Willow, Mahogany and Witch Hazel variant. A broom is crafted in a Mixing Cauldron and is not generated in the world. Its speed comes from the broom type and an optional brush. A bound Broom Whistle recalls a broom within 64 blocks. Fear Nightfall places Hexerei covens and huts about 30% closer together, which makes brooms easier to find in the pack's world.
Jaden's Nether Expansion adds the Stampede, a fire-immune, 80-health hostile beast of the nether. A Stampede can be tamed only with a Roasted Bone, and it can be saddled and ridden once it is no longer angry. A Stampede spawns in Soul Sand Valley and Black Ice Glaciers, so a player who wants one must travel into those biomes.
Born in Chaos adds the Felsteed, a rideable mount summoned by right-clicking a block with a Fel Lamp. The Fel Lamp is part of the Evil Pumpkins and Fel Lamps group. An Ethereal Spirit gives the Felsteed a two-minute Speed III boost. Lord Pumpkinhead's Lamp summons a Felsteed too, which ties the mount to a horror boss.
Sleepy Hollows adds the Spectral Horse. The Headless Horseman always drops a Reins of the Spectral Horse on death, and the reins summon a passive horse with 20 health. The Horseman is one of the bosses that the pack protects from the Tide's Pocket Watch, which otherwise freezes bosses in place.
Mutant Monsters adds the Spider Pig, a neutral, saddleable pig variant with 40 health. A tamed Spider Pig can be saddled and ridden. It jumps by charging forward, and its exhaustion limits how often it can jump. Spider Pigs do not generate naturally; they are obtained from a spawn egg, from Chemical X applied to a pig that has Unluck, or by breeding.
Golem Overhaul adds the Netherite Golem, a 320-health, fire-immune golem that can be ridden. It is built by hand from four Ancient Debris blocks and a Carved Pumpkin rather than found in the world. A ridden Netherite Golem can make a jump attack and can summon Coal Golems to fight beside it.
Vehicles and boats
Supplementaries changes two kinds of vehicle:
- Zombie horses. Feeding a skeleton horse 64 rotten flesh converts it into a zombie horse over 4600 ticks. Zombie horses can be ridden underwater, and they are common in the pack's Horde Nights and Clown Caravan encounters.
- Cannons and Cannon Boats. A cannon boat is a boat with a cannon mounted on it. In Fear Nightfall, raids can take place on open water near villages, so cannon boats appear in naval raids. Half of the pillagers in a naval wave are replaced by Plunderers by default (see Raids and Illagers).
Tide adds fishing and water-based content, but no mounts. Its Dragonfin Boots are covered in the movement section below.
Movement aids
Critters and Companions adds the Grappling Hook. The hook is thrown at 1.5 blocks per tick and sticks only to blocks, not to mobs. While it is stuck, the player is tethered toward it, with a pull capped at 2.0 blocks per tick. The hook is removed if the player moves more than 32 blocks away from it.
Refurbished Furniture adds Trampolines, one bouncy block for each of the 16 dye colours. Falling entities bounce off them instead of taking fall damage. The bounce height is set by the server value maxBounceHeight, which defaults to 8.0, and the bounce is weaker on isolated trampolines than on connected ones. Boats bounce on them too.
Dragonfin Boots, from Tide, are worn in the feet slot and grant one extra jump while airborne. The extra jump is restored when the player touches the ground.
Teleportation
Mutant Monsters adds the Endersoul Hand, an epic-rarity teleport tool. Using it teleports the player up to 256 blocks in Fear Nightfall, which is the mod's default distance. A successful teleport costs 4 durability and starts a 200-tick cooldown. A failed teleport costs nothing.

Fear Nightfall notes
The pack's changes to these systems are mostly about where the mounts and vehicles can be found. Several are tied to horror content:
- The Spectral Horse requires a fight with the Headless Horseman, and Lord Pumpkinhead's Lamp is a boss-linked route to a Felsteed. The Fel Lamp itself is crafted from the pumpkin chain.
- Zombie horses appear in Horde Nights waves from day 20, and the Clown Caravan contains them as well. The Clown Caravan's residents are most dangerous at night.
- Naval raids with cannon boats can reach the coast of any village near open water.
- The Stampede is a hazard in the open nether until it is tamed.
