The End
The End is the last dimension of the Fear Nightfall pack, reached through an End portal in a stronghold and home to the Ender Dragon. The pack's mods add a large body of content to it: three End highlands biomes from Biomes O' Plenty, dozens of structures and builds from six structure mods, a void fishing system, and a dragon carcass that Butchery turns into crafting material. Most of this content is passive exploration. The mobs of Born in Chaos do not spawn in the End.
Biomes
The End's outer islands use the vanilla biomes. The End highlands region holds three biomes from Biomes O' Plenty:
| Biome | Placement weight | Character |
|---|---|---|
| End Wilds | 9 | End-themed trees and plants, with Empyreal trees that yield Empyreal Wood |
| End Reef | 6 | Water-rich, pale and cool-toned, with sea-floor features |
| End Corruption | 3 | Null blocks, null trees and Liquid Null pools |
The weights are the TerraBlender region weights of the End highlands. The three biomes are not weighted for horror. The Null and End Blocks family covers the blocks of the End Corruption and the End Wilds.
Structures
Each structure mod adds its own End sets. The table lists them by source; the detail for each set is on its linked page.
| Source | What it adds to The End | Page |
|---|---|---|
| Moog's End Structures | 17 standalone ruins, towers, gardens and shrines, built from vanilla blocks | End Mega Ships for the eight large ships |
| AdoraBuild: Structures | Glass-and-obsidian bubbles, gateway shrines and purpur temples, plus houses, a small ship and palace pieces | AdoraBuild End Structures |
| Dungeons and Taverns | The End castle, lighthouse and ship, with the castle in the End biomes and the lighthouse and ship in the outer End | End Castle, Lighthouse and Ship |
| Explorify | An End shipwreck with no placed mobs | Explorify Ruins and Monuments |
| Structory: Towers | One End tower, the only End structure that mod adds | Structory Towers |
Several of these structures are rare. Across a 26 km² sample of End terrain taken while the pack was tested, the AdoraBuild End builds and the three Dungeons and Taverns structures were not observed. The pack's Sparse Structures setting spaces the End sets out, so a player may need to explore a large part of the End to find a second copy of a set. The End structures are not horror structures, so they do not receive the pack's horror density or weight changes. They are surface structures and take part in the overlap guard described below.
End Mega Ships
The End Mega Ships are the largest structures the mods add to the End. Their crews of stray and wither skeletons carry netherite and stone gear, and their hulls hold shulkers and loot chests. Because Born in Chaos is removed from the End, the hostile mobs there come from the ships themselves, the vanilla End and the other mods listed above.
Mobs
- Void fish. Tide adds 26 Void Fish that live in the void below a configurable height. In the End the void surface is at y=50. Natural spawns are limited to eight End biomes, and only 12 of the 26 species have a natural spawn entry. None of the void fish attacks players.
- Born in Chaos. Its spawn modifiers are limited to the Overworld, so none of its mobs spawn in the End.
- Ender Dragon. Killing the dragon spawns a Dragon mob instead of the vanilla drop sequence, which places a carcass block (see below).
Fishing in the void
The void surface in the End is at y=50, so a fishing hook must sit at or below that height to fish in the void. Void fishing needs a rod with the Void Hook; the rules are on Tide Fishing. Each void fish drops its own fish item, and a caught fish arrives as that item. Keeping a living fish requires a bucket.
The Ender Dragon carcass
The Butchery mod turns the death of the Ender Dragon into a cut-up. The dragon's normal drop sequence is replaced by a Dragon mob, which places an Ender Dragon Carcass as soon as there is a solid block below it. Under the default config, this happens only when the killer holds a cleaver or has Butcher's Touch or Hunter on the held weapon. The carcass is cut up with a boss tool, and each of its fifteen stages rolls its own loot table. Dragon scales come from those stages. They are the base material of the Dragon Scale items: the Dragon Scale Ingot, the Dragon Scale Block and the Dragon Smithing Template. The carcass process is described on Carcasses and Corpses.
The payoff is the Dragon Scale armor set, which Butchery ranks as its top-tier armor. Each piece is made at a smithing table from a Dragon Smithing Template, the matching Netherite piece and a Dragon Scale Ingot. The full set is on Butchery Armor. Butchery also adds dragon and warden smithing templates to End city chests as a global loot modifier, so the template is reachable without killing the dragon.
Fear Nightfall changes
- Born in Chaos removed from the End. Its mobs were 98% of End spawns, so its spawn modifiers now apply only to the Overworld. Overworld spawns are unchanged.
- Modded-biome structure coverage. 515 structures that could only spawn in vanilla biomes now also spawn in matching modded biomes. The Nether and End use hand-picked matches.
- Overlap guard. Once a surface structure is assembled, a larger structure from another set that would overlap it causes the smaller one to be skipped. The End sets follow this rule, so one may be missing where a larger surface structure sits.
- Loot. Loot from Tide and Butchery reaches the chests of the structures that the pack maps to vanilla chests, and the original loot of each structure is kept.
- Sparse Structures. The spacing values on each End set's page are the in-game values, already scaled by the pack's Sparse Structures setting.
Tips
- Carry food, armor and a way back before crossing the outer islands. The Mega Ships are the most dangerous structures in the End.
- The End castle holds trial spawners and a phantom boss. Bring a way to deal with flying enemies.
- Use a bucket to keep void fish alive, and a cleaver if you want the Ender Dragon carcass.
- A void fishing trip needs a Void Hook rod and a hook placed at or below y=50.
