The Butchery Armor pieces are wearable armor added by the Butchery mod. They form 24 items in total: the Evoker Robes, Pillager Armor, Vindicator Armor, Witches Robes and Hat, Piglin Brute Armor, Stray Necklace, Turtle Shell Armor, Fur Suit and Butcher's Apron. Each piece has a durability value. Several pieces are masks or hats that share the armor slots of the sets they belong to.

Most of the pieces are not made from vanilla materials. They come from the butchering loop that Butchery adds to mob death: a mob's corpse is drained and then cut up with a cleaver or skinning knife, and the cut-up yields the armor. The illager, witch and piglin brute sets are therefore tied to the mobs that Butchery turns into corpses, while the crafted sets use materials such as turtle shell fragments and animal furs.

Obtaining

Corpse cut-ups

Cutting up a drained corpse is the main source of the armor sets. Each armor piece in a cut-up table is guaranteed to drop when that cut-up runs; the tables have no chance roll for these items. See Butchering for the bleeding and draining steps that come before cutting.

  • A drained Evoker Corpse yields the Evoker Robe Top, Evoker Robe Bottom and Evoker Boots.
  • A drained Pillager Corpse yields the Pillager Robe Top, Pillager Robe Bottom and Pillager Boots.
  • A drained Vindicator Corpse yields the Vindicator Robe Top, Vindicator Robe Bottom and Vindicator Boots.
  • A drained Witch Corpse yields the Witches Robes.
  • A drained Piglin Brute Corpse yields the Piglin Brute Armor chestplate.
  • A drained Stray Corpse yields the Stray Necklace, together with a string item.

The Turtle Shell Armor and the Fur Suit are not cut from corpses. They are crafted, and their materials come from turtle and fur sources (see Carcasses and Corpses and Skins, Furs and Pelts).

Heads and masks

Breaking an Evoker Head, Pillager Head or Vindicator Head with a hammer (an item in the c:hammer or forge:hammer tag) drops the matching mask: the Evoker Mask, Pillager Mask or Vindicator Mask. Each break costs the hammer one point of durability. Right-clicking a Pillager Head with a skinning knife also drops a Pillager Mask, along with other items.

Cutting up a head yields the head item itself. The Witch Head drop table yields a Witches Hat in addition to the Witch Head.

Magic Wishbone

Breaking a Magic Wishbone rolls one of 23 outcomes. Outcome 23 (1 in 23) rolls the Magic Wishbone loot table, which has 20 entries of equal weight. The Pillager Mask and the Witches Hat are two of those entries, so each break has about a 0.2% chance of dropping either one. See Butchery for the other Wishbone outcomes.

Crafting

Turtle Shell Armor is crafted from turtle shell fragments, with one recipe per piece. Each Fur Suit piece is crafted from Persian Cat Fur (or any item in the forge:fur tag) together with the matching leather armor piece. The Butcher's Apron is crafted from goat skin. The recipes are shown below.

Chest loot

Butchery loot is added to the structure chests in this pack. Where pieces on this page appear in those chests, the table below lists them. Mob drops are listed in the same table.

Not found in chests or mob drops.

Usage

Each piece gives armor points and toughness in the same way as vanilla armor. The values below are listed in the order helmet, chestplate, leggings and boots, and they are the points defined by each set's material.

  • Evoker Robes: 1, 3, 2 and 1 armor points; toughness 0; enchantability 15. The set has no special effect.
  • Pillager Armor: 1, 4, 3 and 1 armor points; toughness 0.4; enchantability 13. The full set applies the Pillager Friend effect at level II (see Pillager?). The effect is reapplied every tick while all four pieces are worn.
  • Vindicator Armor: 2, 6, 5 and 2 armor points; toughness 0.6; enchantability 13. The set has no special effect.
  • Witches Robes and Witches Hat: 1, 3, 2 and 1 armor points; toughness 0; enchantability 15. The set has no special effect.
  • Piglin Brute Armor: a chestplate with 6 armor points; toughness 0; enchantability 9. While the chestplate is worn it applies Strength II (the Damage Boost effect at amplifier 1), reapplied every tick.
  • Turtle Shell Armor: 2, 5, 4 and 1 armor points; toughness 0.5; enchantability 8. The set has no special effect.
  • Fur Suit: 2, 6, 5 and 2 armor points; toughness 0; enchantability 9. The set has no special effect.
  • Butcher's Apron: the chestplate slot of its material gives 0 armor points, so the apron adds no armor value.
  • Stray Necklace: a necklace item that is worn in the necklace slot of a Curios-style accessory mod, not in the chest slot. It gives 0 armor points. While it is worn, a freeze counter above 1 is reset to 0, so the wearer does not stay frozen.

Masks

The Evoker Mask, Pillager Mask and Vindicator Mask each have a keybind. All three are bound to the same default key (C), so they conflict with one another unless one is rebound. Pressing the key plays a sound: the Evoker Mask plays the evoker celebrate sound, and the Pillager Mask and Vindicator Mask play the ambient sounds of their mobs. The masks are part of the butchery:masks tag, which also includes the Evoker, Pillager and Vindicator boots. That tag is used by the Iron Skinning Knife recipe below.

Crafting ingredient

Masks and the three illager boots can be combined with an Iron Skinning Knife to make leather. The recipe is shown below.

Enchanting

All the pieces on this page carry the c:enchantables tag, so they can be enchanted at an enchanting table. A higher enchantability value makes better enchantments more likely to be offered. Butchery's own enchantments are described in Butchery Enchantments.
