The Iron Golem Parts are a set of block items added by Butchery that come from an iron golem after it has been killed and butchered. A killed golem drops an intact Iron Golem block item, which is hung from a hook or rope and cut apart with a hacksaw into its head, arms, body and legs. There are two sets: the standard parts, and the "repaired" parts, which come from an intact golem that has been mended with iron ingots before it was cut up. Cutting a golem also yields iron ingots, vines and iron nuggets, which makes it a modest iron source for players who already use the Butchering system.

Obtaining

  • Killing an iron golem drops one Iron Golem item (stack size 8) through the Butchery death handler. The drop is controlled by a per-mob carcass toggle for the iron golem, which is on by default.
  • Cleaver requirement. The default setting "Only Cleavers Drop Carcasses" is on. In that case the golem drops only when the killer's main-hand item is in the cleaver item tag, or carries the Butcher's Touch enchantment. With the setting off, every kill drops the carcass. The Hunter enchantment does not satisfy the check for golems.
  • Vanilla drops are not removed. The golem's death handler does not run the item-removal commands used for other mobs, so the vanilla iron golem drops are unaffected.
  • Repairing an intact golem. Holding an iron ingot in the main hand, right-click an intact Iron Golem block. Each use consumes one iron ingot and advances the block through three repair stages. The third ingot replaces the block with a Repaired Iron Golem block. The repair is stored in the block's data, so it is kept until the block is cut or broken.

Usage

Hanging

Holding an Iron Golem item in either hand and right-clicking a hook or rope triggers a chain sound and the message "The golem is too heavy, it will break!"

Cutting

Cutting requires a hacksaw in the main hand. The hacksaw tags checked are the Forge and common hacksaw item tags. Right-click the hung golem to cut. The cut procedure works through the golem in a fixed order:

  1. The head is removed first. The Iron Golem block moves from blockstate 0 to 1.
  2. The arms are removed next, moving the block to blockstate 2.
  3. The body is removed, moving the block to blockstate 3.
  4. The legs are removed last. The block is then cleared.

Each stage takes several hacksaw strokes, and the procedure tracks the progress of each stroke in the block's data. Every cut also rolls the iron golem cut loot table, which gives:

  • iron ingots: 1 to 5 (always);
  • vines: 1 to 3 (75% chance);
  • iron nuggets: 1 to 16 (75% chance).

When the Looting Enchantment option is on (the default), the hacksaw's Looting level applies to these rolls.

Breaking

Breaking the block in survival drops items according to its blockstate:

  • At blockstate 0 (intact), it drops one Iron Golem item.
  • At blockstate 3 (legs remaining), it drops one Iron Golem Legs item.
  • At blockstate 1 or 2, breaking drops nothing.

Creative mode players receive no item from breaking.

Repaired parts

The repaired set follows the same sequence and uses the same drop structure. Its pieces are the Repaired Iron Golem block and the repaired arms, body and legs blocks. Breaking the repaired block drops a Repaired Iron Golem item at blockstate 0 and a Repaired Iron Golem Legs item at blockstate 3, using the same rules as the standard set.

Items

The Iron Golem block and its arms, body and legs each have a repaired counterpart. Every part is a block with hardness 1 and blast resistance 10. The Iron Golem block stacks to 8, and every part stacks to 64.
