Mod	Tide
Items	7
Stackable	Yes (64)

Fishing Gadgets are a set of informational items added by Tide. Each one is a small handheld device that displays one piece of information about the world or about fishing, and each is worn in a dedicated "informational" slot of the Curios inventory or shown as an overlay when held. The set includes the Pocket Watch, the Enchanted Pocket Watch, the Climate Gauge, the Depth Meter, the Weather Radio, the Lunar Calendar and the Fish Finder. The Weather Radio and Lunar Calendar are also placeable blocks.

The Enchanted Pocket Watch is the only member of the set with a combat-related effect: it freezes a mob in time. The other six items are read-only tools. Their readings for weather, moon phase and depth matter to fishing, because those conditions gate which fish can be caught in Tide Fishing.

Obtaining

The gadgets are crafted, and several of them are ingredients in other gadgets.

Enchanted Pocket Watch · Crafting

The Fish Finder is the final gadget in the chain. Its recipe requires one of each of the other five informational items (the Pocket Watch, Lunar Calendar, Depth Meter, Climate Gauge and Weather Radio), so all five must be crafted first. The Pocket Watch is also used in the Enchanted Pocket Watch.

Usage

All gadgets display their information in an overlay on the HUD. The overlay appears while the item is held or while it is equipped in the informational Curios slot; no right-click is needed. Each item is stackable to 64.

Pocket Watch

The Pocket Watch displays the precise time of day. It is the base item for the Enchanted Pocket Watch.

Enchanted Pocket Watch

The Enchanted Pocket Watch is used on a mob to freeze it in time. A frozen mob stops its normal tick: its behaviour, movement and attacks stop, and only its internal timers for age, hurt time and invulnerability continue to count down. On the client, the frozen mob is rendered without partial-tick interpolation, so it appears motionless. The item is rarity Epic.

The following mobs cannot be frozen:

• mobs in the ignores_pocket_watch tag;
• mobs listed in the pocketWatchBlacklist config entries;
• bosses. In Fear Nightfall, the pack adds the Lich, Dead King, Fire Boss, Headless Horseman and Lord Pumpkinhead, along with every mob in the #c:bosses tag, to the immune list. Before this change, the Pocket Watch could freeze these bosses. See Bosses for the boss encounters.

Climate Gauge

The Climate Gauge displays the temperature of the current biome. Its reading is unaffected by weather or by the season, so it reflects the biome's base climate only.

Depth Meter

The Depth Meter displays how far the player is below sea level. Depth and Y-level are among the conditions that gate some fish in Tide Fishing.

Weather Radio

The Weather Radio is both an item and a placeable block. It displays the upcoming weather condition together with the time until it begins. The radio is crafted from a lightning rod, five copper ingots and redstone dust, and it has a block hardness of 0.6 and is mined with a pickaxe.

Lunar Calendar

The Lunar Calendar is both an item and a placeable block. It displays the current moon phase. Its block is oriented to face one of the four horizontal directions when placed. The moon phase is one of the conditions that gates some fish in Tide Fishing.

Fish Finder

The Fish Finder is a rare gadget that displays a combined fishing overview, bringing several of the fishing-relevant readings into one display. It is crafted from the other five gadgets, so it serves as a summary of the set.
