The Fish Bone and Obsidian Fragment are two crafting materials added by Tide, the fishing overhaul mod. Both are leftovers from fishing and from loot crates. Each converts into a vanilla item through a single shapeless crafting recipe: Fish Bones into bone meal and Obsidian Fragments into obsidian. Obsidian Fragments are fire resistant.

Obtaining

Both materials come from Tide's fishing loot and from loot crates. Neither is sold by villagers, and neither is dropped by mobs.

Loot and drops

Fishing with a Tide rod in lava uses the junk_lava pool, which contains an Obsidian Fragment (weight 3) and a Fish Bone (no explicit weight, so the default of 1 applies). Lava fishing requires a rod with the Lavaproof Hook. The lava junk pool is one of several weighted entries in Tide's catch selection. Its own weight is 30 and it is gated to lava fishing, so the two items appear only in lava catches.

Crates also contain Obsidian Fragments. Loot crates roll the table matching their context, and the chest loot table below lists the crate tables that include them:

ItemChest loot tableStructuresChance per chestAvg. stack
Obsidian Fragmenttide:chests/crates/surface_lava77.3%1.7
Obsidian Fragmenttide:chests/crates/underground_lava70.3%1.5

Per chest, the Obsidian Fragment appears in 77.3% of surface_lava crates (average 1.7 per chest) and in 70.3% of underground_lava crates (average 1.5 per chest). The Fish Bone does not appear in any crate table.

Usage

Both items are used in one crafting recipe each. They have no other function in the mod.

Obsidian Fragment

Four Obsidian Fragments combine in a shapeless crafting recipe into one block of obsidian. The recipe is in the building category and is unlocked when the player first holds an Obsidian Fragment. Obsidian Fragments stack to 64.

Fish Bone

One Fish Bone converts in a shapeless crafting recipe into two bone meal. Fish Bones stack to 64. The recipe is unlocked when the player first holds a Fish Bone, and it is the only recipe that uses the item.
