The Jelly Torch is a light-emitting block and item added by Tide. It works like a vanilla torch but can be placed underwater. It is crafted from fish rather than from sticks and coal.
Obtaining
Jelly Torches are not found in the world. Naturally generated blocks, chest loot and mob drops do not include them, and no trade is listed for them. They are made only by crafting, using one of two fish.
Crafting
Both recipes are shapeless and each yields 8 Jelly Torches from a single ingredient:
- one Luminescent Jellyfish;
- one Sun Emblem.
The Sun Emblem is a fish with no biome spawn, so it is obtained through fishing.
Usage
The Jelly Torch emits light level 14, the same as a vanilla torch. It has 0 hardness and 0 blast resistance, and it can be broken by hand. Its particle effect is the end rod particle, and it uses slime block sounds.
Underwater placement
The Jelly Torch can be placed in water. When it is placed into a water block, it becomes waterlogged and keeps the water in its position, so it stays lit underwater instead of popping off. Placing it in air sets it as non-waterlogged. The item tooltip reads "Can be placed underwater."
Wall variant
The Jelly Wall Torch is the block placed against a vertical wall. It shares the same properties and the same underwater placement behaviour. Breaking either form drops one Jelly Torch.
Stacking
Jelly Torches stack to 64 in a single inventory slot.
