The Spectral Pumpkin family is a set of decorative and food blocks and items added by Sleepy Hollows. It comprises the Spectral Pumpkin block, the Spectral Carved Pumpkin, the Spectral Jack o'Lantern and the Spectral Pumpkin Pie. The blocks generate naturally in the Sleepy Hollows biome. The Spectral Pumpkin Pie is the only member that changes the Sanity meter directly, restoring 10 points per pie. The placed Spectral Jack o'Lantern also counts as a sanity light. The Spectral Jack o'Lantern is the head item worn by Infected Zombies and by the Hauntbound Aggressors summoned by the Fleeing Pumpkin Head.

The family is part of the pack's horror theme. Its pumpkins generate only in the biome that drains Sanity, so the pie and the light-emitting Spectral Jack o'Lantern are practical tools for surviving the biome at night.

Obtaining

The Spectral Pumpkin and Spectral Jack o'Lantern generate naturally as a block pile in the Sleepy Hollows biome. The pile is placed in roughly 1 in 17 chunks, at the surface height of each chunk. Each block in the pile is chosen at random, with a weight of 15 for the Spectral Pumpkin and 5 for the Spectral Jack o'Lantern, so about three quarters of the piles' blocks are plain pumpkins. The pile is only placed inside the biome, and the Spectral Carved Pumpkin is never generated directly.

The Spectral Carved Pumpkin is not crafted. It is made by using shears on a Spectral Pumpkin, which turns the block into the carved form and drops 4 vanilla pumpkin seeds. Each use costs 1 durability on the shears.

The Spectral Pumpkin Pie is found in the coffin chests of the Sleepy Hollows Cemetery, where it appears in 63.3% of the chests, and an average of 3.5 are placed when it does. The coffin chest is the same loot table as the other sanity items in the coffins. The Spectral Pumpkin block drops itself when broken, and it survives explosions.

Usage

The Spectral Pumpkin is a pumpkin-type block with a hardness of 1 and a blast resistance of 1. It is mined with a hoe. It has no interaction other than shears. Its tooltip reads "Regenerates Sanity by 10", but the block has no code that changes Sanity. The pie is the item in the family that restores Sanity.

The Spectral Carved Pumpkin is an equippable head item. A player who wears it sees the vanilla pumpkin blur overlay in first person. The Spectral Jack o'Lantern is the same equippable item with a light level of 15. The placed Spectral Jack o'Lantern is one of the sanity light sources in the pack. A player who stands within 4 blocks horizontally, and 2 blocks below to 3 blocks above, of a sanity light does not lose Sanity to the biome.

The Spectral Pumpkin Pie is a food item with 8 hunger points and a saturation of 4.8. It can be eaten even at full hunger. Eating it restores 10 Sanity, which is the largest single sanity food in the pack. Luminous Water restores 6, and Candy Corn restores 4. The pie is worth keeping in reserve for long nights in the biome, when the Sanity loss is at its highest.

Items

The Spectral Pumpkin, Spectral Carved Pumpkin and Spectral Jack o'Lantern share the same hardness of 1, blast resistance of 1 and hoe requirement. Only the Spectral Jack o'Lantern emits light, at a level of 15.
