The Sleepy Hollows Plants are the flowers, grasses and berry bush that the Sleepy Hollows mod adds to the Sleepy Hollows biome. The set consists of Grave Lily, Dreamshade, Shadowbloom, Moonveil Grass and the tall forms of Dreamshade and Moonveil Grass, plus the Dusk Berry Bush. Every flower and grass plant has an infected state. An infected plant applies the Infected status to any player who stands on or in it, which costs health and drains Sanity. Dusk Berries are the mod's sanity food, and they are harvested from the bush.
Fear Nightfall makes the biome more common than in the stock mod, so these plants turn up more often in the pack's world than they would otherwise.
Obtaining
Plants generate naturally in the Sleepy Hollows biome, which the mod places as a sub-biome inside five vanilla forest and taiga biomes. Each plant comes from a separate biome feature:
- Flower patch: two attempts per chunk, each with a 1 in 5 chance of running. It places Dreamshade, Tall Dreamshade and brown mushrooms. About a quarter of the flowers it places are infected (25 of 95 weight, excluding the mushrooms).
- Grass patch: twelve attempts per chunk. It places Moonveil Grass and Tall Moonveil Grass, about a quarter of them infected.
- Dusk berry patch: one attempt in 32 per chunk. Bushes are placed only on grass blocks, fully grown.
Grave Lily and Shadowbloom do not generate in the biome. They appear only in Sleepy Hollows Cemetery structures, where about 5% of the soul torches are replaced by a potted Grave Lily and about 5% by a potted Shadowbloom.
Plants can also be collected from chest loot. The Sleepy Hollows coffins in the cemetery contain Grave Lily, Dreamshade, Shadowbloom and Dusk Berries. Coffins are shared containers, first come first served, rather than per-player loot.
Loot and drops
Breaking Grave Lily, Dreamshade, Shadowbloom or Tall Dreamshade with any tool drops the plant itself. The grass plants drop differently:
- Moonveil Grass drops itself only when broken with shears. Without shears it has a 12.5% chance of wheat seeds, and Fortune increases the number of seeds.
- Tall Moonveil Grass drops two Moonveil Grass per half when broken with shears. Without shears, each half has a 12.5% chance of wheat seeds.
- Dusk Berries are harvested from the bush rather than dropped by breaking it. See the Dusk Berry Bush section under Usage.

Usage
Infected plants
A flower or grass plant is infected when its infected state is true. Infected plants release purple steam and spore particles. Standing on or in an infected plant applies the Infected status for 40 ticks (2 seconds), and the timer is renewed while the player stays in contact. The status deals 1 wither damage about every 2 seconds, and it drains 2 Sanity every 3 seconds. The status is not applied in creative mode, spectator mode, peaceful difficulty, or to players immune to wither damage. Infected Zombies are immune to it.
Infected plants can be cleansed in two ways:
- Right-clicking an infected plant with
Luminous Water cleanses every infected plant within 4 blocks in each direction, a 9 by 9 by 9 cube. - A Splash Luminous Water thrown at a spot cleanses infected plants in the same 4-block radius and removes the Infected status from living entities within that radius.
Dusk Berry Bush
The Dusk Berry Bush is a sweet berry bush variant with four growth stages. Right-clicking it with an empty hand harvests it only at age 2 or 3. A harvest yields one or two Dusk Berries, with one extra berry from the fully grown stage, and resets the bush to age 1 so it can regrow. Dusk Berries restore 2 hunger and count as sanity food, restoring 2 Sanity when eaten.
Tags and fireflies
Moonveil Grass and Tall Moonveil Grass are not in the vanilla flower tags, unlike the other flower plants. All six flower and grass plants (Grave Lily, Dreamshade, Shadowbloom, Tall Dreamshade, Moonveil Grass and Tall Moonveil Grass) are tagged for fireflies in Foundation. Drops from these grass plants are described under Obtaining.
Other uses
Grave Lily, Dreamshade and Shadowbloom have a 25% chance to raise a Composter level when composted, and Tall Dreamshade has a 35% chance. Grave Lily, Dreamshade, Shadowbloom and Tall Dreamshade are in the vanilla flower tags, so bees and any mod that checks those tags treat them as flowers.
Items
The Dusk Berry Bush has no item form; its harvest is Dusk Berries. All the other plants have a block item, and the items stack to 64. Grave Lily, Dreamshade and Shadowbloom also have potted forms. The table below is generated from the game data.
