Trellises are a set of decorative blocks added by the Beautify mod. Each of the nine wood types has one, sold under the in-game name Lattice (Oak Lattice, Spruce Lattice and so on). Lattices can be mounted on a wall or hung from a ceiling, they are climbable, and each one can hold a single plant on its face. All nine are listed under the Beautify creative tab and share the same behaviour; only the wood type and the sources of supply differ.

Obtaining

Lattices are obtained in three ways: crafting, chest loot in Botanist's House structures, and trading with the Botanist (villager). None of them are placed by natural terrain generation; the mod adds no ores or world features.

Crafting

Each lattice is crafted from four sticks and one log of its wood type, giving four lattices per craft. Crimson and warped lattices use a stem instead of a log. The recipes unlock together: obtaining a single stick grants the trellis advancement, which unlocks all nine recipes at once.

Loot and drops

Lattices appear in the chests of the five Botanist's House structures, one chest table per village biome (the generic botanist_chest table, plus the taiga, snowy, desert and savanna tables). Oak, spruce, birch, jungle and acacia lattices are present in these tables, each with a different chance per chest. Dark oak, mangrove, crimson and warped lattices do not appear in any chest table, so they are only available by crafting or trading. The mod does not add lattices to any vanilla loot table.

Trading

The Botanist villager sells every lattice type at Level 2 of its trade list. Each trade costs one emerald and yields two lattices, with a maximum of 16 uses before the offer restocks.

Usage

A lattice can be placed against a wall or on the underside of a block. A wall lattice is a thin panel along one face, and a ceiling lattice hangs from the top of its block space. The facing of a wall lattice is set from the player's horizontal facing when it is placed.

Lattices are climbable, treated the same as a ladder for climbing. They are flammable on every face, regardless of wood type, so fire spreads to them readily. They break quickly (hardness 0.3) and are mined with an axe, as the block tag minecraft:mineable/axe has been extended to include them. Each lattice drops itself when broken.

Plants

A lattice can hold one plant. To place a plant, hold it in the main hand and right-click the lattice while it is empty. The eight accepted plants are rose bush, Sunflower, Peony, Lilac, Vine, Weeping Vines, Twisting Vines and Glow Lichen. Placing a plant consumes one item from the stack. To take a plant back, right-click the lattice with an empty main hand; the plant returns to the hand and the lattice is cleared. If the hand already holds the same item and the stack is not full, the plant is added to that stack instead. Any other item is refused.

Notes on lattice behaviour

  • Lattices have no support check in their code, so they do not pop off when the block they are attached to is removed.
  • The mod does not change lattice recipes, loot or behaviour for Fear Nightfall; the pack-side changes to Beautify are limited to loot table format fixes.

Items

The nine lattices differ only by wood type. Oak, spruce, birch, jungle and acacia are the most widely available because they appear in chest loot as well as in the trade list. Dark oak, mangrove, crimson and warped are craftable and tradeable but never appear in chests. The table below is generated from game data.
