Luki's Grand Capitals (mod)

Luki's Grand Capitals is a datapack by lukidonu, distributed through Modrinth, that rebuilds the vanilla villages and illager structures with new builds. In Fear Nightfall it contributes five village types, a pillager outpost and a swamp witch hut. It adds no items, mobs or blocks of its own, so the player meets it only through world generation. Its villages are the reason a player finds a different village in a plains, desert, savanna, snowy or taiga biome than the vanilla one.
The mod matters to the pack because the villages, outposts and huts it rebuilds share their structure sets with several other mods. Its builds appear mixed in with vanilla villages, Towns and Towers villages, Overhauled Villages and Fortified Villages, with the type chosen by the biome the player stands in.
Overview
The mod describes itself as a rebuild of vanilla villages and illager structures. In the pack its structures are registered under a separate fnf:lukis/ namespace, so they do not overwrite the vanilla versions. The vanilla villages, outposts, witch huts and their chest tables are kept, and Luki's builds are added beside them.
The pack enables all five of the mod's village types: desert, plains, savanna, snowy and taiga. The mod's structure config has each village switch on.
Content
The mod's content falls into three groups.
- Villages. The five village types are the largest part of the mod. Each is built from jigsaw pieces with its own houses, markets, farms and decoration, and each has its own chest tables for villager professions. The full list, biome groups and layouts are on Luki's Grand Capitals.
- Pillager outpost. The mod's outpost is a shallow camp of pillagers and vindicators. It sits in the same structure set as the vanilla outpost and the other outpost variants. See Pillager Outposts for the set and its variants.
- Swamp witch hut. The mod's swamp hut houses one witch. It is one of the huts in the pack's shared witch-hut set. See Witch Huts for the other huts and Hexerei Witch Hut for the separate hut from Hexerei.
The villages hold Sheep, and the desert village also holds camels. The mod's chest tables draw on the profession tables for armorers, butchers, cartographers, fishermen, fletchers, leatherworkers, masons, shepherds, toolsmiths and weaponsmiths. The witch hut's chests include Rope, Cabbage seeds, Tomato seeds and Onion seeds, which are listed on Witch Huts.
Mechanics
The mod adds no mechanics of its own. Its structures are placed by the same world-generation systems as every other structure in the pack, through three shared structure sets.
- Villages. The five Luki village types belong to the
minecraft:villagesset, which also holds the vanilla villages and the village mods. The game picks among the types valid for the local biome, so two village types never stack on one spot. Each Luki type is valid only in its own biome group, so the biome a player is in determines which type appears. - Pillager outposts. The Luki outpost sits in the outpost set beside the vanilla outpost and the Towns and Towers and CTOV variants. Its biome list is wide, which makes it one of the most likely outposts in most biomes. See Pillager Outposts.
- Witch huts. The Luki swamp hut shares the witch-hut set with the Hexerei, YUNG's, Terralith and Dungeons and Taverns mangrove huts. It places in a wider set of swamp variants than most of the others. See Witch Huts for those biomes.
The villages are sparse. Their spacing is set by the pack's Sparse Structures tuning, and the structure page gives the in-game spacing and separation.
Changes to vanilla
The mod changes the vanilla villages, pillager outposts and witch huts by replacing their jigsaw pieces and village chest tables. The Fear Nightfall pack restores the vanilla versions, so the vanilla structures and their loot still generate. Luki's builds appear next to them rather than instead of them.
In Fear Nightfall
The pack treats Luki's structures as part of its shared sets rather than as horror structures. The villages are not placed more often in the horror biomes, so they are not one of the pack's horror tuning targets.
The pack's shared structure sets are the main pack-specific change. The village set is shared with the vanilla villages, the CTOV villages, Towns and Towers Villages, Villages&Pillages, Dungeons and Taverns and the Terralith fortified villages. The outpost set is shared with the vanilla outpost, the Towns and Towers outposts and the CTOV outposts. The witch-hut set is shared with Hexerei, YUNG's and Terralith. Every type in a set is weighted in the same way, so the mod's structures appear alongside the others in proportion to their weights.
Tips
- Villages from this mod are grouped by biome, not spread evenly across the map. Search the biome you want first, then expect the village type that belongs to it. See Finding Structures and Biomes.
- The plains village is the largest of the mod's villages and the easiest to find. The desert and taiga villages did not appear in the test sample, so they are harder to locate.
- The swamp hut is rare. Look in the swamp variants listed on Witch Huts rather than in any swamp.
