The Sleeping Bags are a set of sixteen colour variants added by Traveler's Backpack. Each is a bed-like block that attaches to a placed backpack and lets a player sleep, like a vanilla bed. The main recipe for the basic Standard backpack uses a sleeping bag and leather, and one of its recipe variants omits the bag.
Obtaining
Sleeping bags are made by crafting. The mod's vanilla chest additions list backpacks and tier upgrades only, not sleeping bags. Mob-equipped backpacks carry a random sleeping bag colour rather than dropping a bag. Backpack loot is covered on the Backpacks page.
Crafting
Each colour has two crafting routes:
- Wool route: two wool of the target colour plus one white wool make one bag of that colour. White uses three white wool.
- Dye route: one dye of the target colour plus any sleeping bag of a different colour makes one bag of the target colour. The bag used is consumed and the output is a 1:1 recolour, so a single bag can be turned into any other colour for one dye.
Usage
Sleeping bags are used with a placed backpack. Players shift and right-click a placed backpack to attach a bag to it. The backpack's screen has a "Use Sleeping Bag" button that deploys the bag onto the ground next to the backpack. The deployed bag is a two-part block, and the sleeping bag upgrade that controls this is enabled by default.
Right-clicking a deployed bag starts sleep through the same code path as a vanilla bed. If a villager is already asleep in the bag, the villager is woken and the player can use the bag; if the bag is occupied by a player, the message "bed occupied" is shown instead.
Spawn point
Using a sleeping bag does not set the respawn point by default. The config option enableSleepingBagSpawnPoint is false, so a bag does not change where the player respawns. When the option is enabled, using the bag sets the spawn point to the bag's position, as a vanilla bed does.
Removal and cleanup
The bag is tied to its backpack:
- Breaking either half of a deployed bag clears the backpack's "bag deployed" flag.
- The Quick sleeping bag option is on by default. When the player wakes up, the bag block is removed if the backpack is no longer behind it. This prevents orphaned bags.
- In a dimension where beds do not work, using the bag removes it without an explosion. The vanilla explosion code is present in the source but commented out.
Sleeping bags have a hardness of 0.2 and a blast resistance of 0.2, so they break quickly and are easily destroyed by explosions.
Colours
The sixteen colours are white, orange, magenta, light blue, yellow, lime, pink, gray, light gray, cyan, purple, blue, brown, green, red and black. Mob-equipped backpacks spawned by zombies, skeletons, endermen, piglins and wither skeletons receive a random sleeping bag colour from this set. The spawn rules are described on the Traveler's Backpack page.
Items
Each of the sixteen sleeping bags is a separate item. They all stack to 64, and they share the same stats. See the table below for each colour.
